Letter from Principal Young | | |
Dear OLOL Families,
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School is getting ready for Catholic Schools Week. This is when we celebrate being stakeholders of a great Catholic School. We have some great things planned and I want to highlight some of the most important events.
- A great way to say thank you to OLOL Parish is to have all of our families and students attend 10:15AM Mass on Sunday. Please come to Mass in your Lourdes Way shirts.
- We are in need of readers for this Mass. Please contact Mr. Young directly today if your son or daughter would like to read. I need to get them their part by Thursday.
- We also have plenty of room in our church choir, Please sign-up on the Sign-up Genius.
- Teachers are preparing a pancake breakfast following Mass on Sunday. Please be sure to stop by.
Catholic Schools Week also means that enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year begins. It goes without saying that I would love all 205 students to return next year. If you have any questions or concerns about next year please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to address any concerns that you may have.
There are some changes in tuition next year that I wanted to make you aware of.
- The Parish Verification Form (new last year) will be required again this year. Last year tuition was given at the in-system rate if you selected a GRACE parish. This year all tuition will start with an out-of-parish rate. Once GRACE receives the Parish Verification form the $2,000 incentive will be applied.
- This year GRACE is giving an incentive for siblings. Tuition is slightly lowered with each additional sibling.
- Also new this year is an incentive for recruiting new families to GRACE. An additional incentive will be awarded if you refer a new family to the GRACE system.
If you have any questions about these changes please reach out to me.
Catholic Schools week leads me to have a grateful heart. I’m so thankful for each and every family that chooses OLOL for their child’s education. I have a high standard for myself and the responsibility of making sure we do everything possible to give your child an exceptional education experience. I know this is a huge responsibility that I don't take lightly. I take on this responsibility because of the support that I receive from the families, staff and OLOL Parish. These stakeholders mean a great deal to me and have given me such a great rewarding life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I close my article with an inspirational quote from a gentleman who entertained me in high school, college, and my early adult life in the Chicago area. Lin Brehmer was the morning DJ on WXRT in Chicago. He always put me in a good mood on my commute in the morning. He passed away on Sunday. I will close with how he closed his morning program every day.
“It is a great day to be alive” - Lin Brehmer
The Lourdes Way,
Jeffrey Young
