Ray-Pec Community,
In August, I shared how excited I was for our new school year. Our overarching theme this year is #HereWeGo, which recognizes the tremendous opportunities for all students in our district.
Here’s a fun fact that I shared earlier: There are now more life-enhancing student learning opportunities in the Ray-Pec School District than ever before, and we aren’t even close to being done.
The strides we've taken over the past few years have been transformative. From the opening of the Ray-Pec LEAD Center, the Ninth Grade Center, and the Performing Arts Center, to creating career-oriented programs such as carpentry, electrical studies, HVAC, CNC programming, future teacher preparation, and drone certification. We’ve continued to grow project-based instruction at the elementary and middle school levels and now offer new extracurriculars like esports, girls flag football and boys volleyball. Looking ahead, there are even more exciting opportunities on the horizon, including developing programs in medical studies, military careers, and small business development. More immediately, our integrated learning house will open next fall.
We are planning to offer additional educational experiences at the LEAD Center for elementary students starting in January. These sessions will be held one night per week and will feature exciting offerings such as drones, Spanish, robotics, and theater. More details will be shared later this fall.
One inspiring student-focused addition this year is the Anatomage Table. This cutting-edge tool offers students interested in the sciences a hands-on, 3D learning experience in anatomy and physiology like never before. This will help bring science education to life and provide students with a deeper understanding of the human body. Here is a video we shared with the Ray-Pec Board of Education last night.
And…if that wasn't enough…Ray-Pec will be hosting an AI and Innovation Conference on Oct. 7 for our teachers to hear from experts and take part in workshops on how to best leverage AI in their classrooms. Other area school districts have been invited as well. We are proud to be able to host this event.
With the support of our strategic plan and the dedication of our teachers, staff, and Board of Education, we continue to create an environment where students have more life enhancing learning opportunities than ever before.
Thank you for entrusting your children to the Ray-Pec School District.
Sincerely,
Mike
