This event is scheduled February 9th to start at 3:00 pm in the Sharon Theatre Lobby and is free admission. For this concert, we feature two extraordinary pianists who will perform masterpieces from the classic piano repertoire.

I would like to give special thanks to The Music Gallery, Steinway & Sons of Tampa Bay who with great enthusiasm have partnered with the VPO for this fundraising for the Steinway D Grand Piano.

A Message from Pianist Antonio Pompa Baldi

In 2003, I had the great honor of being named Steinway Artist. I was asked then to provide a statement reflecting how I felt about Steinway pianos. Here is what I wrote: “A Steinway piano is a miracle: put your hands on it, and you'll hear the voice of your soul.” Twenty years, hundreds of performances, countless practice sessions and rehearsals later, my love of Steinways has even deepened. As musicians, we vehicle our emotions, our interpretations of the greatest masterpieces, through sound. No piano has a better, richer, more nuanced, more colorful sound than a Steinway D. I know that, for any institution, to acquire one is to enrich their artistic offerings manifold, greatly enhancing the musical life of the entire community. In truth, any musical institution should own a Steinway Concert Grand. A Steinway D is a dream come true for performers and audiences alike.
