FEATURED RECIPE

CHURROS PROVIDED BY CHEF PAUL BLANCO

Grocery outlet savings card.

Ingredients

· 1 cup water

· 2 ½ tablespoons white sugar

· ½ teaspoon salt

· 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

· 1 cup all-purpose flour

· 2 quarts oil for frying

· ½ cup white sugar, or to taste

· 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Step 1: Gather Ingredients

You will need water, sugar, salt, vegetable oil, flour, cinnamon, and oil for frying.

Step 2: Prepare the Dough

In a small saucepan, combine:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Step 3: Place over medium heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat.

Step 4: Add Flour

Stir in 1 cup of flour until the mixture forms a dough ball.

Step 5: Heat Oil for Frying

Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep pot to 375°F (190°C).

Step 6: Pipe the Dough

Transfer the dough to a sturdy pastry bag fitted with a medium star tip. Carefully pipe 5- to 6-inch strips of dough into the hot oil. Be sure to work in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Step 7: Fry the Churros

Cook the dough strips until golden brown. Once done, use a slotted spoon or spider to transfer the churros to paper towels to drain.

Step 8: Coat with Cinnamon and Sugar

In a separate bowl, combine:

  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Step 9: Roll the drained churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.

Enjoy your freshly made churros!
