Finding Your Footing space still available!

The EIPLP has welcomed a new cohort of families to our Finding Your Footing (FYF): Using Your Family's Experience to Impact Systems Change introductory leadership training series. Orientation was held on Saturday, September 24th, and we have an incredible group of parents and caregivers joining us.

In addition to gaining a community of other parents & caregivers, receiving information about resources, and sponsorships to attend different conferences, participants receive skill-building workshops on:

  • Identifying and applying their personal strengths
  • Developing and enhancing their communication skills
  • Telling their story, so people connect with their message
  • Sharing their story online
  • Conflict resolution & negotiation
  • Building an effective team
  • Care mapping
  • Racial equity and cultural humility

If you missed the application period for FYF and want to join us, we still have space available for one or two more parents or caregivers before workshops begin. Text Liz at 857-260-1740 or send her an email using the button below by October 7th and tell her you want in!

Community Support Line

The Division for Children & Youth with Special Health Needs toll-free statewide Community Support Line provides information, technical assistance, and resources for families with children and youth with special health needs and the providers serving these families.

Resource Specialists can tell you about all of the public programs you may be eligible for, and about the state and community-based resources that may provide assistance. They answer questions, do a thorough assessment of family needs and eligibility for services and benefits and provide training to families and providers.

You can get information about:

  • Public benefits (SSI, CommonHealth, MassHealth, etc.)
  • Catastrophic Illness in Children Relief Fund
  • Hearing Aid Program for Infants and Children
  • Care Coordination services
  • Family-to-family supports
  • Community-based services
  • Other programs within the Department of Public Health, or other state agencies (Department of Developmental Services, Department of Mental Health, MA Commission for the Blind, MA Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, MA Rehabilitation Commission, and others)

The Resource Specialists' goal is to help answer specific questions and requests, as well as to ensure that families are informed about all the public programs they may be eligible for, and community resources that might provide additional assistance. You can reach the Community Support Line at 800-882-1435.

How has EI helped your family?

As a family receiving early intervention services, you have an opportunity to share the impact of your services with the broader community. Whether that's your home visits, a play or transition group your child goes to, or a parent opportunity- your voice is one of the strongest in sharing how important these services are! If you would like to share part of your EI story, through an article, interview, or quote, let us know! We will work with you to develop the message YOU want to share about how EI has supported your child and family.
