Hello Josey,

Welcome back from Winter Break! We hope you were able to relax and reset as we head into the second semester and the New Year!

As a reminder, the Staff Communicator will be distributed each Thursday that school is in session, as well as once in June and once in July. It may also be distributed as needed throughout the year. Archives can be found HERE.

Early Retirement or Resignation Notification Incentive, $1,000 - Deadline January 7

In order to secure the best possible candidate pool, the Board of Education is offering an early retirement or resignation incentive of $1,000 to any certificated professional staff member who submits retirement or resignation notification by the end of the day THIS SATURDAY, January 7. The resignation or retirement must be effective for next school year.

This incentive is included in Board of Education policy E-155-E on page 38 of the Employee Manual, and will be available annually, although the monetary amount is subject to change.

Calendar/Construction Survey Now Available

Between January 4-13, Republic School District is seeking your input on several important topics:

  • The school calendar for 2023-24 and beyond
  • Potential construction projects

Visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/calendarconstruction to take the short, five-minute survey!

New Central Office Now Open!

We have opened our new Central Office! Previously on the back of Price Elementary, Central Office is now located at the newly renovated, former Early Childhood building at the corner of Main Street and Hwy 174.

Human Resources, Federal Programs, Food Service and other district leadership are now all located within the new building at 636 N. Main St. A new space for Board of Education meetings is being built at that location as well.

The district's phone number will remain the same at 417-732-3605.

The office area at Price Elementary will be remodeled into classrooms to create more space for students. During construction on the former and new Board of Education meeting rooms, Board of Education meetings will be held at Sweeny Elementary (720 N. Main St.).

“District Drink Drops” are being implemented in hopes of providing our employees with an easy way to access a “treat” or “pick me up” from our local businesses. This effort will expand to include Black Lab Coffee beginning in early 2023!

Tournament Champion T-Shirts Available

Our Republic High School varsity basketball teams had an exciting Winter Break! The Tigers won their division of the Blue & Gold Tournament, then the Lady Tigers won their division of the Pink & White Tournament.

The Republic Tigers Booster Club is selling commemorative t-shirts to celebrate these teams' successes! Both boys and girls rosters will be listed on the back of the t-shirts. Money raised from the sales will help pay for students' admission to post-season basketball games this spring!

The shirts are available to order until January 9. You may choose to pick them up at one of the home games on January 30 or 31, or ship to your home for a fee. Staff members can have orders delivered to their school building.

HRA Reminder

The Republic School District participates in a health insurance consortium with 85 other school districts which allows us to qualify for the most competitive rates on the market. To continue qualifying for these competitive rates the consortium has implemented a requirement for participating districts. This requirement is that at least 50% of the district's employees who are eligible for insurance coverage MUST complete an annual Health Risk Assessment (HRA) in order for that district to participate in the consortium.

Without participation in this, consortium insurance costs are guaranteed to increase significantly.

As an incentive to receive the 100% Board-paid insurance, we're asking all employees eligible to receive insurance coverage to complete a Health Risk Assessment (either through a district event or through their primary care provider) between July 1, 2022, and May 1, 2023.

Employees who do not participate will be required to pay the cost of the monthly premium increase. For the 2022-2023 school year this increase was approximately $35.00 per month.

If you choose to have your HRA completed with your physician's office, please have THIS FORM completed and returned to Melissa Bennett by May 1, 2023.

As in the past, on-site HRA visits will be held in the district during the spring of 2023.

Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders is an opportunity for employees who are interested in learning more and engaging in conversations about school leadership through administration, curriculum/learning specialist support or other leadership positions. Emerging Leaders is different from the RepMO Leaders cohort, as Emerging Leaders is not for graduate-level credit. Emerging Leaders is designed to engage future leaders and grow leadership capacity for future opportunities.

Emerging Leaders meets four times throughout the year. The next meeting will be Thursday, January 12 from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the Price Elementary Library.

If you are interested in participating in the Emerging Leaders program and would like additional information shared please fill out this interest form. Please contact Dr. Tyler Overstreet if you have further questions.

Mornings with Matt

Each month, Superintendent Dr. Matt Pearce will visit a building to host conversations with employees. These "Mornings with Matt" meetings are casual opportunities where employees can visit with Dr. Pearce regarding any topic of their choice. Building libraries will be the location of these meetings with the exception of EC (multipurpose room) and the Transportation Department (meeting room).

ALL employees are invited to EVERY meeting, if you'd like to attend! Dr. Pearce looks forward to visiting with many of you!

January 18: Transportation meeting room, 8:30 a.m.

February 15: Lyon library, 7:20 a.m.

March 22: RHS library, 6:30 a.m.

April 19: Schofield library, 7:30 a.m

The Power of Positivity

Jon Gordon, best selling author and keynote speaker, writes:

"We have the power to develop positivity within ourselves, and in the process, positively contribute to a team and organization. The more positivity we develop on the inside the stronger and resilient we become in facing the world on the outside. Positivity is a muscle and we can develop it.

The future belongs to those who believe in it and have the mindset, resilience, and perspective to overcome all the challenges in order to create it. There is a power of positivity. Let's start fueling up with it today!"

Welcome back to a new semester filled with opportunities for positivity!
