Black Belt Graduates!
We pride ourselves in helping each student achieve their goals and developing their mental and physical strength. This is what attaining a Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do Black Belt requires.

For some of our candidates this journey to Black Belt began in our Knee-High Ninja Program, when they were only four years old!

This month, these candidates passed our Arlington Qualifier and the Panel Exam in front of the Jhoon Rhee Masters from Arlington, Falls Church and North Carolina. Our candidates persevered and we would like to present and congratulate our newest
Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do Black Belts!

"Jhoon Rhee gave me the opportunity to spend time with my daughters and my wife. We are doing numerous classes together. This is an opportunity that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Jhoon Rhee reinforced persistence, hard work, & adaptation. When I started Tae Kwon Do, I wanted to quit right away because I could barely lift my leg off the floor. My daughters told me what I've been telling them all along - never quit when things are hard. I'm glad I listened to them, otherwise I would not be here today testing for my Black Belt."

"Before I started Tae Kwon Do, I would not raise my hand in school because I was afraid I would be wrong. I never tried out for sports, or plays, because I didn't believe in myself and was too terrified to try new things.... I was called up to the front to say my student creed. Even though I hadn't spoken in front of a large audience before, I realized it wasn't as bad as I thought... I started raising my hand in school. Tae Kwon Do gave me the confidence to try new things like tennis, art competitions, school plays, and student council."

"My confidence has soared high after joining Jhoon Rhee, this newfound self-confidence made me able to do presentations better, and try new things even though I know I might not be good at them. I started getting higher scores on tests not only because I was motivated by getting a white [academic] tape, but because I became more confident that I could get a good score."

"By the time I had left that [birthday] party, I was convinced martial arts was the coolest thing to ever exist, and I begged my parents to sign me up for classes. Little did I know that Tae Kwon Do would not only teach me kicks and punches, but also valuable physical and life skills that would shape the person I am today... To think that I went from an impatient six-year-old who couldn't touch their toes to the person I am now is wild to me, and it was all because of Tae Kwon Do. That six-year-old would never believe all the things they would accomplish, big and small."

"One of the bigger things Tae Kwon Do did for me was something I did not fully appreciate until I began drafting this speech. Before I joined Tae Kwon Do, I was shy, had anger issues, and didn't have many friends. And today, all of that has changed. While I am still an introvert, Tae Kwon Do gave me confidence that I use every day. And through Tae Kwon Do, I made several friends with common interests, something I didn't find at school due to my shy nature."

"...Then one Mother's Day, with some peer pressure from another mom, I signed up... It was clear that any conditioning I ever had was long gone, because at my first class, I could not even do one pushup...I went from believing that my physical fitness was lost forever to being confident I could regain former strength and more. I returned to tennis and biking, which I thought I'd never do again."

"Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do has not only taught me mental flexibility but also perseverance. I began to understand that it was not only about the physical aspects, but it was preparing me for life in general. This gave me a new determination to work for my goals through excellence in Tae Kwon Do."
