Reminder: Responses to EPA’s Request for Information Regarding the Office of Air and Radiation Inflation Reduction Act Programs Due Wednesday, January 18

Agency is seeking input on design of transformative programs to fight climate change, protect health, and advance environmental justice.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) would like to remind stakeholders that responses to the Agency’s Request for Information (RFI) regarding the Office of Air and Radiation’s (OAR) Inflation Reduction Act programs are due Wednesday, January 18, 2023. These programs include funding for air quality projects and climate projects addressing clean energy, transportation, methane emissions, and climate super-pollutants. Among others, these OAR programs include the Clean Ports program (Sec. 60102 Grants to Reduce Air Pollution at Ports), which is one of two transportation programs EPA is collecting feedback on in Docket 2 of this RFI. We encourage you to submit written input to the RFI by January 18. You may also send written input on the design of the Clean Ports program to cleanports@epa.gov after January 18. For more information from our recent listening sessions on how to build the Clean Ports funding program, including slides and recordings, visit: https://www.epa.gov/ports-initiative/events-related-epa-ports-initiative#past.

EPA is seeking public input on key program design questions for all OAR programs, such as how to integrate the needs of underserved communities, what types of financial and technical assistance are the most valuable, and what metrics should be used for measuring success and ensuring accountability.

Importantly, EPA has not yet made key determinations about the designs of these program, including further guidance on the entities that will be eligible to apply and the number of grants that will be funded. EPA is looking forward to considering RFI responses, as well as input from stakeholder listening sessions and external advisory panels, that reflect diverse perspectives and expertise to inform key design decisions.

All stakeholders are encouraged to review and comment in six public dockets (listed below) at Regulations.gov. Interested stakeholders do not need to answer all the questions in the RFI to submit a response.
