Activities, trainings and events in June culminated with the sweet happiness brought by Eid-Al-Adha. You made the festival of Eid very special for many deserving individuals by sharing your Qurbani donations with them. Read all about it and more ways in which you made June special for them!

You Spread a lot of Joy this Eid-Al-Adha!


You made the festival of Eid-Al-Adha truly special for the camp residents and Rohingya refugees. Eating meat is a rare treat which they get to enjoy on this special occasion. Thank you for bringing joy to them through your qurbani donations. 74 cows and 100 goats were sacrificed this year which fed over 50,000 people. Take a look at some photos from our Qurbani program. Thanks to your support, families greatly enjoyed Eid celebrations and festivities.

73 Students Graduate from OBAT's IT Center


OBAT’s Chittagong IT center has been equipping students with computer literacy which enables them to find jobs as well as work as freelancers while they finish their education. A wide range of courses are available to students including graphic design, MS Office as well as some programming languages.The IT Center recently celebrated the graduation of 73 students by inviting some key personalities in the IT sector and distributing completion certificates among the students.

OBAT Scouts Participate in District-wide Camporee


Two units of OBAT’s Cub Scout group in Chittagong participated in the Cub Camporee held in June. Students of 14 schools from the Railway District Scouts participated in this camporee. 150 students participated in various categories of the camporee such as tent setting, flag hoisting and cub carnival. OBAT students joyfully participate in and learn from other simple activities as well such as cooking on their own initiative.  The students are awarded certificates at the end of the camporee which serves as a great learning and extracurricular experience for them.


OBAT Teachers graduate with B.Ed Degrees


OBAT believes that teachers play a very important role in shaping children's minds and preparing them for the future. A good teacher can make a tremendous difference in a child's development.

We are extremely proud of our teachers from OBAT’s Junior High and Primary School in Chittagong. Six teachers successfully completed their B.Ed degrees (Bachelors in Education from B.Ed College of Chittagong). All OBAT Teachers continually receive training to hone and update their skills and were specially encouraged to study for the B.Ed degrees.

More OBAT Students Qualify for Private Boarding School Education



The RSF Model School and College in Bogra is an English medium boarding school, managed by the Center for Zakat Management. The school is mainly run for the benefit of underprivileged students. A total of 35 students from OBAT’s schools from the cities of Chittagong, Rangpur, Syedpur, Khulna and Bogra are studying in different classes at RSF School. Five more students from OBAT’s Elementary School in Chittagong have received admission at RSF School this year after passing its competitive test.

OBAT's Advisor & North Carolina Lead Visits Projects in Bangladesh


Mr. Fiaz Fareed works in nuclear medicine by day and is a humanitarian at all other hours. He is leading the Friends of OBAT Chapter in North Carolina and is also serving on OBAT’s advisory board. Mr. Fareed is passionate about providing relief to the poor and the needy, wherever the need might be.His passion has taken him to Bangladesh where he is visiting OBAT's projects and witnessing the work first hand.During his visit, he engaged in strategic discussions with OBAT's team to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration and the maximization of collective impact.



Staff Undergoes Important Training


A day long training was conducted by Mr. Anwar Khan, President of OBAT, who is visiting the projects these days. Mr. Khan who is a certified coach and trainer at The John Maxwell Team, always spends a part of his visit in upskilling the staff through training and development sessions.

The training was facilitated by Sk. Tanvir, Director of Strategy and Implementation, and was organized by the OBAT Bangladesh team. Staff from OBAT's projects in different cities participated in it. The training session included the following topics:

Cataract Surgeries Restore Sight


A life-altering cataract surgery program for the camp residents living in extreme poverty was organized by OBAT in

June. One hundred elderly individuals received the surgeries in Chittagong.

Cataracts can severely impact vision, hindering daily activities and limiting income-earning opportunities, among several other challenges.

We are thankful to Royal Eye Hospital for their partnership in executing these surgeries and bringing back the vision of 100 people.
