WE NEED VOLUNTEER STAFFERS!

On November 20th, Dawson County Family Connection is coordinating a POVERTY SIMULATION to be facilitated by Ms. April Edwards from the UGA Extension Office.

This simulation will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, in Dawsonville, inside the gymnasium from 1:00pm-3:00pm

(Staffers need to arrive at 12:00pm, please)

The Poverty Simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month.

It is a simulation, not a game. The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income people.

Georgia Mountain Food Bank’s (GMFB’s) mission is to address hunger, health and quality of life by serving those in need. An affiliate of Atlanta Community Food Bank, we provide a vital link between sources of food supplies and hardworking community-based partner agencies who help get the food into the hands of families and individuals in need.

Goodwill of North GA, Dawsonville Career Services will provide our services to jobseekers throughout the Dawson, Lumpkin, Union, Forsyth and White County service area. In October we will be providing our career services with Mobile Career Services Unit.

The Mobile Career Services Unit is a state-of-the-art mobile computer lab that is outfitted with computer workstations and satellite internet access that allows us to bring Dawsonville Career Center’s Field Employment Specialist assistance and services directly to your onsite location. This will provide your service area with the resource to conduct computer and resume workshops, job search services and mobile job fairs to the community and employers.
