LIBRARY REDESIGN
Nelson Poynter Memorial Library gets a new, modern look
After undergoing major renovations, the first floor of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library has a new look and greater study space for students. The upgrades include 12 new study rooms and state-of-the-art technology to enhance opportunities for collaboration and learning. A public reveal event to showcase the modern look will take place on January 24 at 6 p.m.

Initiative to reduce unwanted teen pregnancy and trafficking receives $800K U.S. Department of Health grant
Although teen pregnancies in the U.S. have been on the decline for decades, substantially higher levels of pregnancies, along with trafficking and sexual violence, persist among marginalized communities. A research project spearheaded by faculty at USF working with partners locally and in Savannah, Georgia, seeks to reduce unintended teen pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections and incidents of trafficking for marginalized youth.

During an inspirational ceremony on January 12, more than 15 youth from throughout Pinellas County were recognized for advancing the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle, high school and college students were celebrated for overcoming adversity, fighting for social justice and lifting up their communities.

USF student illustrates children's book for NASA
Growing up near Kennedy Space Station, Andrea Coloma always dreamed of working for NASA one day – not as an engineer or astronaut – but as a graphic designer. Fast forward to today, she just finished illustrating an educational children’s book for NASA’s Space Communication and Navigation program, thanks in part to a series of internships.
