"History of Oppression and Resistance" Tour
|
This Saturday, June 30 is the last day to apply for the October 6-13 mission trip to Washington, D.C.
This trip will bring together Fourth Church members and members of other congregations of the Interfaith Coalition Against Racism for a weeklong exploration of historic sites that reveal oppression and resistance in our history.
Led by Vicky Curtiss and Robert Crouch, participants will visit numerous museums and monuments, as well as the Office of Public Witness of the Presbyterian Church (USA) to learn about current political efforts and worship at Shiloh Baptist Church (founded by former slaves shortly after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation). They will also share in daily reflection and prayer as a group.
Places visited will include the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center, Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, and memorials to Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.
More information (including cost details) is available online, as is a trip application form. Applications are due by Saturday, June 30.

Building Bridges with Cuba

Speaker Presentation on Sunday

Gail Walker, Director of the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO) and Pastors for Peace, will present a talk this Sunday. For more than twenty years, IFCO/Pastors for Peace has organized Friendshipment Caravans to bring humanitarian aid to Cuba.
