From there you can see what is happening when and in what room, as well as click to add those events you re interested in to your own calendar.

When registration is involved (including payment of any registration fees) , you can take care of all that online as well, directly from a link in the calendar!

There are several opportunities to join us in “making a joyful noise to the Lord” this autumn.

The Chancel Choir--which sings at the 8:00 worship service from September through May--rehearses on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary beginning on September 6.

On Thursday, September 20, the Choral Society will begin weekly 7:00 p.m. rehearsals in Buchanan Chapel for a November concert. Commemorating the end of World War I, that concert will feature music by Elgar, Bainton, and Tavener.

If you prefer to ring rather than sing, our Handbell Choir begins rehearsals on Sunday, September 9 at 8:00 a.m. in the Buchanan Chapel Choir Loft.

For more information about music at Fourth Church, contact John Sherer .
Cornerstones will host a dinner program on “The Legacy of Faith” next Friday, September 7.

Lucy Forster-Smith will join this gathering of individuals and couples fifty and over for a look at our various life stages and the ways we encounter God as we face our mortality.

Friday, September 7 at 6:00 p.m.
Borwell Dining Room
Registration required by next Wednesday, September 5

We’ve made a change to our youth kickoff plans: All of our youth programming, including Confirmation, will start on Sunday, September 16.

In the meantime, those eighth-graders who plan to take part in Confirmation- -a unique and powerful experience of exploring faith in the company of peers and adult mentors --don’t forget to register for this year’s program and our September retreat to Holland, Michigan.

Sign-ups for both--Confirmation and the September Confirmation retreat--are due by this Saturday, September 1 and can be completed online .
Do you play piano? We’re looking for a pianist (or multiple pianists to share a rotating schedule) to accompany simple songs during Sunday School’s short worship service on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m.

Shower Ministry greeters, both men and women, are needed for a rotating schedule on Tuesday afternoons (1:15–4:00 p.m.) to welcome those in our community who do not have access to bathing facilities and have come to use our showers.

We’re recruiting new Tutors to be paired with a Chicago Lights Tutoring student one evening a week at the church, October through May; students range in age from first grade through twelfth grade and come to us from under-resourced neighborhoods. A one-session orientation will be offered on a variety of dates, including this Thursday, September 6.

For more information about these or other volunteer opportunities or to sign up, contact Robert Crouch , Director of Volunteer Ministry (312.981.3382).
Two reasons to make a point to come to this week’s free Friday Noonday Concert:

  1. It’s our last outdoor Music by the Fountain concert of 2018.
  2. Pianist Amr Fahmy of our weekly Jazz at Four service will be performing!
