Last Chance for Flora
Record-setting exhibitions closing April 23 - 30
Don’t miss out on your chance to see three exhibitions, three artists, and three masterful explorations of our botanical world. Keinen Kachō Gafu: The Bird and Flower Prints of Keinen Imao, closing April 23, features a collection of historic woodblock prints focused on the printmaking tradition of kacho-e, or bird and flower pictures, from Japanese artist Keinen Imao. Closing on April 30 are contemporary porcelain vessels by Hitomi Hosono in On the Surface: Flora Inspired Ceramics of Hitomi Hosono, and Ian Hanesworth’s printed fabrics and original prints in Fragments of this Living Earth. Thanks in large part to our presenting partners, Adrianne Sassoon Gallery (London, UK) and Ronin Gallery (New York, NY), these three installations have driven record-setting attendance at MMAM. Don’t miss out on seeing this body of work before it leaves Minnesota!

May 5-7
Just as we say goodbye to our focus on Flora, we turn to Fauna. Ceramicist Courtney Mattison opens a solo exhibition, Undercurrent, featuring large scale wall installations reminding us of the fragile beauty of living coral reefs. Meanwhile, jubilantly eclectic paper mache sculptural works march through the gallery in an installation by Liz Sexton titled, Out of Water. Don’t wait to purchase your First Look Preview Party tickets! The last Preview Party was a smash sell out event that you won’t want to miss. Can’t make it Friday night? Join us for Members and Media Day on Saturday, and tour the installation with Liz Sexton. Looking for something for the whole family? Come on Sunday, our Friends and Family Day, featuring gallery scavenger hunts for ages 9 months to 99 years.

Adrian Sassoon
Gallerist of MMAM Exhibiting Artist, Hitomi Hosono
| How do we do it? With really strong partners and an international network of artists, arts organizations, galleries and museums. The current exhibition, On the Surface: Flora Inspired Ceramics of Hitomi Hosono, would not be possible without the generous support from our colleagues at the Adrian Sassoon gallery (London, UK). Special thanks to Kathleen Slater who coordinated the loan for Hitomi Hosono’s vessels. Adrian Sassoon excels at bringing some of today’s most ambitious artists and their artwork to the world. The gallery was recently featured in the New York Times, Art Rooted in Nature Blooms at TEFAF. We are deeply appreciative to have Adrian Sassoon as a presenting partner for the Flora suite of exhibitions. | |
