President's Monthly Update

News You Can Use

Did you know that April is known for its association with Spring, April Fool's Day, Earth Day, Tax Day and Various Heritage and Awareness Events?

It is designated as "Month of the Military Child". Celebrated on April 15th, April recognizes some of the military's most unsung heroes – children of military parents. The day encourages everyone to wear purple which represents all branches of the military and shows unity with each other

Other notable military holidays this month:

  • Gold Star Spouses Day: April 5th honors military spouses who have lost a partner in service.
  • National Former POW Recognition Day: April 9th recognizes former prisoners of war.
  • Air Force Reserve Birthday: April 14th celebrates the Air Force Reserve's anniversary.
  • Army Reserve Birthday: April 23rd marks the anniversary of the Army Reserve.

April also highlights the power of Volunteer Service. Throughout the month, and year, you will be invited to volunteer for numerous events, campaigns, and initiatives that raise money and support for our organization's mission. Thank you to the many volunteers that continue to lift up TCWVs.  I appreciate you and I celebrate you!

In closing, April showers may bring May flowers. But showers are far from the only notable happenings during the month of April. In fact, there are dozens of spring holidays, observances, awareness weeks and seasonal observations to note on your 2025 calendar.
