Spondyloarthritis at ACR Convergence 2022

Here is a summary of the sessions at ACR Convergence

related to spondyloarthritis. Download schedule.

SPARTAN PROJECTS

We are pleased to inform the SPARTAN membership and our partners in industry that we have completed recruitment of 501 patients to the CLASSIC study with database lock on October 5. We have initiated our first analyses aimed at describing the study cohort. We are also working with ASAS on the primary objective of the study to determine whether the current ASAS classification criteria meet pre-specified performance targets, and if not how we might improve on the current criteria.

BASIS Study

After a call for member applications to fill the roles of study PI and Steering Committee members, the SPARTAN Board of Directors appointed Drs. Kristi Kuhn (PI), Sibel Aydin, Atul Deodhar, and Judy Smith to the Steering Committee for BASIS. The group is finalizing the study protocol details, a request for proposals by contract research organizations to help manage the study, as well as scopes of work for the CRO and biorepository. Once proposals have been received, the Steering Committee will review and make recommendations to the Board for final approval. These steps will allow the Steering Committee to finalize budget projections and begin soliciting funding for BASIS.

EIDA, a project to educate non-rheumatologists about clinical features that suggest the presence of axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and to prompt rheumatology referrals has been extended through 2023. Grand Rounds and meeting presentations will continue through the US and Canada to PCP, chiropractor, PA, physiatrist, and physiotherapy groups.

The successful CAPES (Clinician and Patient Education Series) collaboration with GRAPPA (Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis), NPF (National Psoriasis Foundation), SAA (Spondylitis Association of America), concluded on November 3 with on-demand viewing of CME videos and access to the podcasts available on our website.
