Welcome from the Alfond Scholarship Foundation

Hey there parents & caregivers! We hope that you are finding our newsletters to be full of great news and resources. We will be providing you with quarterly updates about My Alfond Grant and other information to help you support the future of Maine's children.

Aspiration Toolkit

We know how important it is for kids to start thinking about their future. We also know that many of those opportunities require some kind of education after high school. That’s why we’ve developed an online toolkit for parents and children to explore, as well as the additional age-based and parent resources we have available on our website.

The tools can be used in the classroom or at home and are designed to get children and parents to explore and plan for what comes next.

Encourage Students' to Learn About Their Options After High School

For a lot of kids, college may be the only idea that comes to mind when they think about education after high school – but there are many options out there! Help your child learn about their options by encouraging them to ask trusted adults about their jobs and how they got there!

Sample questions could include:

What kind of program did you attend and what did you study?

What is your workday like?

What qualities of yours make you good at your job?

What did you want to be when you were my age?

What was your first job?
