Assistance Available for Workers
Impacted by Foreign Trade
NORTHWEST LOWER, MI— Workers who have lost their jobs as a result of foreign trade may be eligible for benefits through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program. TAA provides assistance to laid-off workers to help them return to work as quickly as possible at a comparable wage. These are lifetime benefits so workers may be eligible to receive them regardless of when they were affected by foreign trade, even if they've already moved on to another job.
Northwest Michigan Works! will host a Worker Benefit Orientation in August for individuals who are considered to be adversely affected workers under TAA. Orientation attendees will learn more about TAA benefits including career counseling, employability skills, labor market information, resources for job training, job search allowances, relocation allowances, health coverage tax credit, and more.
Workers should contact Northwest Michigan Works! to learn if they are eligible to receive services under TAA. Contact information for Northwest Michigan Works! Centers is available at nwmiworks.org/contact.
Orientation sessions are scheduled for August 14 at 10:30 a.m. and August 28 at 10:30 a.m. Sessions will be held at the Northwest Michigan Works! Cadillac Service Center (423 N. Mitchell Street). TAA adversely affected workers should select one session to attend.
Visit the Northwest Michigan Works! website at nwm.org/TAA for more information and to RSVP for the orientation. Eligible attendees will receive a $50 gift card for participating.

Next WaterFire Tour, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:30 am
Join us for this unique opportunity to walk through the vineyards and hear about our commitment to SIP certification, renewability, and land preservation and how we implement that in our vineyards. This 30-minute experience runs every other Saturday at 11:30 AM through August. Walk-ins are always welcome. If you know in advance that you will be attending reservations are always appreciated so we have a head count.
It's important to note that our vineyard tour involves walking, so it's essential that everyone has suitable footwear. The terrain can be unpredictable, especially after rain, with slick grass, mud, and uneven ground. To fully enjoy the experience, having good traction and avoiding heels is best.

Time has a way of slipping through our fingers. One moment we’re looking ahead at days, weeks, and months stretching out before us, and the next, they’ve all but disappeared in the rearview mirror. It’s odd how days can feel so long in the moment, yet when we look back, months or even years seem to have passed in the blink of an eye. But here at Raven Hill, the time has come! All of our planning and preparation is behind us. Fuller Road closes tomorrow and Raven Hill’s Pop-up Museum opens in the Open Space located before the bridge construction with entrance to the Pop-up Museum on Pearsall Road just past the junction of Fuller and Pearsall! We invite you to visit and check out our museum “under the tents”! For more information, call 231.536.3369 or email info@miravenhill.org
