School Announcements


  • Vision Update:  Ms. Chabeli will be available on Thursday & Friday, January 5 & 6, 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m., and 2:20 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. for parents to pick up students' glasses.


  • Accelerated Reading Rewards: Students who have accomplished improved reading levels with Accelerated Reading will be receiving Amazon gift cards. Parents can pick up these gift cards on Thursday, January 12 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., and Friday, January 13 from 8:15 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Special messages will be sent via KinVolve to parents whose child will be receiving the gift cards.


  • Martin Luther King JR. Day: School will be closed Monday, January 16th. School will reopen on Tuesday, January 17th.


  • Success Mentorship Program Parent Meeting: We will be hosting 2 workshops for parents of participating students on Wednesday, January 18th. The first session will be held in person at 9:00 a.m. and a zoom session at 3:00 p.m.


  • Parent Workshop: We will be hosting an in school parent workshop on Wednesday, January 25th at 9:00 a.m. focusing on 'Self Care.'



  • Attendance Raffle: Students will be participating in a virtual attendance raffle on January 6th & 20th to celebrate perfect attendance. Times will be announced tomorrow.


  • Promotion in Doubt and Progress Reports: Parents will receive promotion in doubt letters and progress reports at the end of January.


  • Health and Safety: It is very important that if your child is sick you keep them home, and check in with a doctor before bringing them back into school building. The Nurse will continue to see students and inform the parents if pick up is needed. COVID testing kits are given to students every Monday, please use if needed.


  • Device Update: We will continue to use learning devices for both in person learning and at times when called for during temporary remote instruction. If you need a device, please contact your child’s teacher. Your cooperation and that of your child during this time is very important and very much appreciated. Working together we can have a safe and productive school year.


  • DOE School Calendar: You can find the new school calendar for the school year of 2022 to 2023 HERE


  • NYC Schools Account: It’s important that your school is able to reach you to share crucial information quickly, including alerts about confirmed COVID-19 cases in your child’s school. Please sign up for a NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) so we can contact you via phone, email, or text message. STEPS ARE HERE


  • Upcoming February events:
  • Respect for All Week: February 13th to 17th.
  • Mid winter Recces: Schools will be closed February 20th to 24th.
  • Healthy Hearts Jump-A-Thon: February 14th

Holiday Festive Week!


Thank you to P.S. 36 and REACH for providing students with holiday gifts before winter recess! Thank you to the Student Support Team for planning and facilitating Holiday Festive Week.

P.S. 36 Mighty Tigers School Store


The school store is now open for business every Friday! Students receive school bucks throughout the week for being good citizens in the school building and classroom.

Arrival and Dismissal Updates
  • Breakfast will be served for all students in the cafeteria at 8:00 AM.
  • 3K – PK students will be escorted and picked by their parent to their classrooms.
  • Kindergarten and First Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the Unit 1 veranda.
  • Second and Third Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the Unit 3 veranda.
  • Fourth and Fifth Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the main lobby, Exit 2 veranda.

School Based Mental Health Services

School Based Mental Health Services offers students a space to talk about their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment and helps them develop healthy coping-skills. We offer individual counseling services, family therapy, and group counseling for students. 

 

If you believe your child can benefit from developing healthy coping skills or if you notice your child is experiencing changes in their eating or sleeping habits, behavioral issues, extreme feelings of sadness or worry, or has experienced any type of traumatic event, please reach out to Armanda Soto at Armanda.Soto@nyfoundling.org, and fill out a consultation form below.
