DECEMBER 2022 EDITION
A look back on 2022
What a year it has been! We kicked off 2022 with a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially launch Rowan's new School of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SIE), which houses both the Rowan Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (RCIE) and Rowan’s highly successful and award-winning entrepreneurship programs. This year, we focused efforts on scaling our academic and co-curricular programs to better support the Rowan community. We hope you enjoy our Year in Review and a few highlights noted below in case you missed it.

ICYMI...

  • The Princeton Review, in partnership with Entrepreneur Magazine, named Rowan University’s undergraduate entrepreneurship program among the 50 best in the U.S. for both 2022 and 2023. The 2023 rankings boosted 2022's national ranking six places to #44 and named it #7 in the Northeast.
  • Entrepreneurship became the fastest-growing and largest minor in the Rohrer College of Business.
  • Furthering Rowan's commitment to a robust South Jersey economy, the Rowan Innovation Venture Fund (RIVF) expanded to $25 million.
  • SIE awarded its 1,000th free credit hour through the 2022 Think Like an Entrepreneur Summer Academy, which was recognized by AACSB as a 2022 Innovations that Inspire.
  • RCIE partnered with Rowan College of Business for Rohrer Fest to celebrate RCB's 50th anniversary and SIE's launch with over 600 students in attendance.
  • RCIE and RIVF held the largest Idea Challenge to date with over 50 competing teams and awarded $4,000 to first place winner Nick Nastasi of 4Umedicaldesigns.
  • SIE launched new undergraduate and graduate certificate programs, including Cannabis Commercialization and Cannabis Entrepreneurship.
  • RCIE celebrated its status as a Knowledge Hub (KHub) of the International Council of Small Businesses (ICSB) with a ribbon cutting ceremony, attended by ICSB President and CEO Ayman El Tarabishy and other industry leaders from Germany, South Korea, Switzerland and the U.S.
  • 14 budding community and female entrepreneurs completed the inaugural cohort of Accelerate South Jersey: Focus Camden. Led by Dr. Michael Dominik, the program helped prepare them to launch and grow new businesses in the Camden region and aligns with SIE's faculty researchers hoping to eradicate poverty through entrepreneurship.
  • SIE faculty were recognized with impressive awards and honors. Dr. Eric Liguori received the ICSB Global Excellence Award: Revolutionizing Entrepreneurship Education and Best Paper in Women Entrepreneurship at the 2022 ICSB World Congress; Professor Daniel James Scott received the Excellence in Online Learning for his MBA level class, Driving Innovation Through Analytics; Dr. Michael Dominik received the 2022 Rohrer College of Business Innovation in Teaching Award; Dr. Susana Santos received the 2022 Rohrer College of Business Alumni Advisory Council Award for Scholarly Achievement; and Dr. Lee Zane and Dr. Andrea Farro received a $5,000 research grant for a NSF iCorp Research Proposal based on their work titled The Effects of Intellectual Capital on Firm Resources and Outcomes

As always, thank you for your continued engagement and support. We look forward to all that is to come in 2023!
