DME Required Modifiers

Applicable to: Mercy Care Complete Care, Mercy Care Long Term Care, Mercy Care ACC-RBHA, Mercy Care DDD and Mercy Care DCS CHP, Mercy Care Advantage (HMO SNP)

In July, 2022, AHCCCS completed a review of the DME and Supply categories of service (COS) to match the CMS requirements. Many supply codes previously categorized as supplies have been changed to DME, along with moves in the opposite direction as well. AHCCCS requires that all DME service codes classified under COS 15 be submitted with modifiers LL, RR, NU, RA, or RB upon submission to Mercy Care. Mercy Care will be working to bring systems in line with this AHCCCS requirement and wanted to alert providers to these COS changes.

Please note that some services which have been migrated in this fashion may no longer belong in a provider’s assigned categories of service. Please contact AHCCCS Providers Relation and submit the correct information to support additional COS for the provider.

As always, don't hesitate to contact your Mercy Care Network Management Representative with any questions or comments. You can find this Notice and all other provider notices on our Mercy Care website.

Thanks for all you do!
