A WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER:
Happy November!
Fall really is in the air and the Holidays are here. No, it’s NOT time for Christmas music yet. Not until AFTER Thanksgiving but, it is that time. The weather is FINALLY cooling down and the days are much shorter. If I’m honest, I prefer the summer weather, yes, the heat and the longer days BUT… I do LOVE the Holidays and I do love the music, just not too early...
I hope you all had a very Happy Halloween. John and I sat out on the porch and gave out candy. Actually, I love doing that. After I hand a kid a piece of candy I always say something silly…or stupid…depending on how you look at it like, “go be a good human” or “be nice” or if its an older kid, “don’t be stupid” or “make good choices” I’m certain it is annoying to some but hey, they are coming to my house so… (-:
After all, being…building and becoming a good human is part of my whole mission statement here at Fresno Music Academy & Arts. Yes we teach music here and we “make musicians” but my deeper mission is to help celebrate and cultivate the good in people. Music and for that matter, any “arts” education has shown to help develop character traits such as compassion, empathy, tolerance in humans. We certainly could use more of that in todays world.
The holidays can be especially tricky for some people. Lost loved ones, estranged family etc. Also, personally, the homeless population and the cold weather really is a hard one for me. I just cannot imagine being on the street and on top of that, being cold. UGH. It just haunts me. So, because of this we do try to help out. We support One Warm Coat. You can read more about that in this newsletter…
So, in closing, Happy Fall, and we look forward to the Holidays.

ONE WARM COAT
One Warm Coat is an organization that FMAA has supported for years now. When you come into the Academy you will see a big box that you can donate your gently used coats, sweaters and blankets all through the months of November and December. We will then donate the items to a local shelter. You can also make a financial contribution to One Warm Coat.
