Topic: It's Ethics Month! Join us at Farm Bureau Financial Services to hear from the Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau Investigator, Matt Mortvedt, enjoy lunch and network with your fellow CPCUs! Matt will introduce us to the Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau, the crimes they investigate and emerging fraud trends. If you’re unable to attend in person, you may join virtually via Zoom.

Happy February!

One thing about me is that I love gift giving! While it’s great to give gifts, sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself! Give yourself the gift of learning and professional development by renewing your CPCU Society membership! We offer monthly chapter meetings where we provide interesting content for you to learn and expand your knowledge. We also have social events and volunteer opportunities as well. I hope that you join us at our chapter meetings and events we’re hosting this year!   

Our January meeting sparked quite the interest from our members! We had an awesome turnout at GuideOne Insurance where we learned about fire safety from the West Des Moines Fire Marshal, Mike Whitsell. Mike shared valuable information, photos, and stories about the importance of fire codes. Unfortunately, our plans for virtual attendance really went up in smoke and we apologize again for the technical difficulties.

This month we have a great meeting planned on Valentine’s Day where we will hear from the Insurance Commissioner, Doug Ommen. This breakfast meeting will be held from 8:00 – 9:30am at St. Kilda’s in Valley Junction. Additionally, we are having a social event this month at Wellman’s Pub & Rooftop on Wednesday, February 22^nd. Stop by anytime between 4-6pm to grab a drink, snack on some appetizers, and network with your fellow CPCUs!
