Updates on VCPEA's 27th Annual Conference

Planning for the 2023 Annual Conference is well underway! We are excited to welcome Jonathan Martinis, Senior Director for Law and Policy, Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University, as this year's opening speaker with a focus on supported decision-making. Other sessions will be on elder abuse prevention, the medical side of elder neglect, multidisciplinary teams, common scams, bipolar disorder, dementia, and documentation.


Registration for the conference is open and we encourage you to register early! The early-bird registration rate of $400 ends February 14th. February 15th to April 30th registration is $450. After May 1st registration will be $500.

Scholarships


We are pleased to announce the availability of 18 scholarships to the 2023 Annual Conference. Scholarship recipients will receive free conference registration and will cover the cost of the two nights of lodging at the conference hotel.

Helen J. Napps Award of Excellence


The Helen J. Napps Award of Excellence, established by the VCPEA, recognizes professional excellence by individuals who work in the area of elder abuse prevention and/or elder abuse protection. The organization presents the award at its annual abuse prevention conference in alternating years. We will be presenting the award at this year's conference.


Nominees must have made substantial contributions to the prevention of and/or response to the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older Virginians. They must demonstrate moxie, integrity, attitude, and adaptability in their actions.

  

Nominations are due March 1, 2023 for this year’s award.

The winner will receive:

  • free conference registration,
  • a two-night hotel stay to the VCPEA Annual Conference, and 
  • recognition during the VCPEA Annual Conference.
