First State Trails Coalition Creating Change

Late last month, we brought together First State Trails Coalition members and invited guests on the Wilmington Riverfront to connect. Discussions centered around current and future trail projects, along with areas in need of safer pathways. It was great to hear everyone’s perspectives and ongoing efforts. We love the passion and determination our fellow Coalition members feel toward trail expansions and outdoor explorations!

Additionally, the members were celebrating the Coalition's recent rebranding. You can learn more about the First State Trails Coalition, and the over 30 member organizations, companies and agencies, on our website

Great turnout at our First State Trails Coalition Mixer.

Concord Pike Monitoring Committee Report Published

If you live, work or travel frequently through the Concord Pike (US 202) Corridor, you'll want to read the Concord Pike Monitoring Committee's Summer 2024 Newsletter. It shares what was discussed by Delaware Greenways and our fellow committee members, during the 2023-24 year.

A highlight of the newsletter is the Committee’s Annual Report. Contained in the report is a summary of transportation and land use conditions and changes within the Concord Pike (US 202) Project Area, including how the projects in the Concord Pike Master Plan are being implemented. We'll continue to work toward making this important road corridor safer for all methods of travel.

June workshop attendees review project data.

DGI Executive Director Receives Mitchell Award

We're proud to announce that Mary Roth, Delaware Greenways' executive director, has been selected as a recipient of Delaware Business Times' Mitchell Award!

This special recognition is for "individuals in the First State who have demonstrated leadership and success in building bridges between communities despite race, gender and social status.

Named for the late Delaware civil rights pioneers Littleton and Jane Mitchell, the Mitchell Awards showcase those who are championing efforts to educate, inspire and impact communities across the state. This award is intended for those who work tirelessly to create opportunities for all Delawareans." Read the announcement.

We'll be celebrating Mary, and the five other exceptional individuals receiving Mitchell Awards, at a ceremony in October. Please join us in congratulating Mary for this well deserved recognition of her tireless and impactful work! Congratulations, Mary!
