Dear Residents –

We gather, we pray, we join hearts, this MEMORIAL Day 2023

Skyward be our eyes...

A feeling, a thought, and skyward be our eyes

The solace of light within supernal skies

Blessings of ALL we do feel

The touch of GOD ever real

And in this moment as Below as Above

Beheld we be by the embrace of Love

From the light a resounding WORD

The message of GOD, the ALL be heard

Our Sons and Daughters in blessed memories they be

For the valor and sacrifices made to defend land, sky, and sea

Held within our hearts be memories of sweet times shared

We in PRAISE Salute those who are in GOD’s heavenly care

And so this moment, this hour, this day, a blessed salute we give

To those who with sacrifice of life defended the freedoms we live.

Public Service Announcement

Orangetown Police Department

As we honor the brave service member who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, let's ensure a safe and memorable Memorial Day weekend for everyone. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

Plan Ahead: Before heading out, know your route, check weather conditions, and inform someone of your travel plans. Be prepared for traffic and possible delays.

Buckle Up: Whether you're driving or riding as a passenger, always wear your seatbelt. It's a simple step that can save lives and reduce injuries.

Don't Drink and Drive: If you're celebrating with alcohol, designate a sober driver, use public transportation, or call a cab/ride-sharing service. Let's keep our roads safe and prevent tragedies.

Be Vigilant: Stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Together, we can help maintain a secure environment for everyone. If you see something, say something.

Water Safety: If you're heading to the beach or pool, make sure to follow all safety rules. Supervise children closely and don't forget to stay hydrated under the sun.

Grilling Safety: If you're hosting a cookout, be mindful of fire safety. Keep grills away from flammable materials and always attend to them. Extinguish coals properly after use.

Look out for Each Other: Be a good neighbor! Check in on friends, family, and those who may need assistance.

Let's make this Memorial Day weekend a time of remembrance, unity, and safety.
