"It's nice to be mentored spiritually for the first time in my life." Hayden is a student who started coming to the Wesley a little over a year ago. Almost immediately, he got plugged into one of our weekly discipleship groups. Three to four students get together weekly, study the Bible, and pray for one another. We call them Wesley Hubs, and they're having a profound impact on the almost 40 students who are involved in one.
Like many of our students, growing up Hayden didn't have someone who could disciple him. There was no example of how to struggle, how to grow, and how to walk out his faith daily. With the Wesley being right on campus, students are in and out of our building all the time. Between Tuesday night Dinner and Worship, Hub Group meetings, and time around the Ping-Pong table, we're able to do life with each other. The Wesley is a relational environment uniquely suited for discipleship.
After a year of being in a Hub Group, Hayden is now helping lead one. As a Hub leader, we meet with him every other week to do discipleship training that has been tailored to address what this generation of college students is facing. In just a little more than one academic year, Hayden went from not being discipled, to being a disciple and now discipling others. I could hear the joy in his voice when he said, "Now I know how to give it back to others and mentor them."
Please join us at the end of the month on Giving Tuesday - a chance to help the ministry at Wesley continue to provide a place to grow and lead for students like Hayden. Join us Tuesday, November 29th and all throughout the month of November as we raise vital support to continue to serve through worship, discipleship, and creating home away from home for students at the Wesley College Ministry.
