PUT THE POP IN CULTURE
Comic-Con might be over– but that doesn't mean the nerdy fun has to end. Join us on August 22nd from 6–9 p.m. in your Comic-Con coolest for a special Fleet After Dark event focused on pop culture! Enjoy local scientists from chemistry, archeology, physics, and astronomy discussing Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in a panel discussion. Then, explore the science behind lightsabers and have even more pop culture fun with trivia, board games, and more. Admission is FREE for members.

This is your time to enjoy the galleries before they open to the public, get hands-on in Studio X, wowed by awesome science demos, and enjoy a members-only screening of your favorite films from the vault. This month, we celebrate the human ingenuity behind engineering marvels big and small in Dream Big: Engineering Our World, screening at 10 a.m. See you there, Fleetsters!
THE SKY TONIGHT
This month, we're learning all about dwarf planets! Although not visible to the naked eye, some interesting objects exist in the August night sky: Pluto, Ceres, Makemake, and Haumea, four of the five officially designated dwarf planets. Join us starting on August 7 to learn what dwarf planets are and why this category was developed. Members enjoy a $10 discount on The Sky Tonight tickets!
