Our Leadership

Last month's newsletter discussed our new additions to our Board of Directors, as well as returning veterans. This month we wanted to introduce you to our officers who work with our CEO, Christy Zeitz, to manage the Fellowship Square Foundation. We're honored to have these hardworking, successful, and dedicated volunteers as a part of our team.

Kristin Norris, President

Norris is a Commercial Lender and Vice President at John Marshall Bank, specializing in residential and commercial real estate financing for local builders, developers, and investors, with an emphasis on residential acquisition, development, and construction financing. She received her Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development from George Mason University in 2019. In her spare time, she also manages a social sports league and enjoys working out at Orangetheory, and spending time with her dog, Sasha.

Mark Fleming, Vice President

Fleming supports non-profit organizations focused on affordable housing in Virginia. Throughout his distinguished career Mark has worked on the financial side of housing as Operations Director for NVR Mortgage, Managing Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and twenty-one years with Freddie Mac. He brings an incredible knowledge of the finance world to his role with the Fellowship Square Board of Directors.

John Gray, Treasurer

Gray is a Certified Public Accountant in Prince William County, Virginia and active in his community supporting many charities and causes. He believes in building strong communities and is the founder and treasurer of three federally-qualified health centers in Prince William County, Virginia. John was born in the Bronx (NY), served his country in the United States Marine Corp, and is a husband and a father to four children.

John Kelly, Secretary

He focuses his practice on general corporate law and real property law, including commercial real estate leasing, financing and acquisitions, and business mergers and acquisitions. John represents sellers, lenders and developers in connection with real estate investments throughout Virginia and Maryland. He was born in Baltimore, MD, lives in Vienna, VA, has two daughters and a German Shepherd.

CHRISTY'S CORNER

We Care for the Caregivers

During July, we showcased resources, services and gave thanks to caregivers at each of our properties. For many Fellowship House residents, they rely on a family member or caregiving agency to provide support for one or more activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing and cooking. We recognize the challenges that family caregivers face – balancing the needs of their own children, employment and life in general while also being a reliable and dependable aide to their aging parent.

For the past 13 years, the AARP Public Policy Institute publishes an annual State Scorecard on Long-Term Services and Supports to raise awareness of the needs of older adults and caregivers alike with a comparison across the states of successful programs, areas for improvement and opportunities for innovation. The 2023 Scorecard was released earlier this year and shows the latest rankings across five core criteria. Washington, DC ranks in the top tier of meeting or exceeding the needs for their older adult residents and caregivers; while Maryland is in Tier 2 and Virginia is in Tier 3 (with five Tiers in total).

Fellowship Square is proud of the work we do to support residents and their families. We hope through our community engagement and advocacy, along with the voices of the many other organizations like us in Maryland and Virginia, we will help to improve the rankings of these states and secure greater resources for our aging communities and those that care for them.

I urge you to get involved in our mission – volunteer, donate or consider serving on a leadership committee or Board of Directors. We welcome everyone who has a passion for older adults and a willingness to serve.

In gratitude,

Christy Zeitz
CEO
