Today marks 215 days in captivity.
Each Shabbat, members of the Downtown Jewish Community join for a peaceful walk around Washington Square and Union Square Park from
2:00-3:00 pm and carry pictures of the hostages held in Gaza to bring awareness to their plight. The group meets at the NYU Bronfman Center, 7 East 10 Street, walks through Washington Square and up University Place and then walks around and exits Union Square Park. Shabbat is a time to pause, connect and reflect,. As long as our family in Israel are suffering, we cannot rest. We hope you will join us on Saturday.

7th Grade Mitzvah Project - Sunday, May 19, 12:00 NOON
When antisemitism goes up, our kippahs go down. we hide our Magen David, we feel silenced, isolated, and alone... but on Sunday, May 19th, the Brotherhood Synagogue 7th Grade Mitzvah Project students invite you to "Walk A Mile In My Kippah" - the Jewish version of walk a mile in my shoes - where we walk in solidarity with the Jewish people to combat antisemitism and honor the victims and survivors of October 7th.
We will start the event with a one-mile walk from the synagogue and back, where we will enjoy light refreshments, partake in family-friendly activities (making dreidels out of clay, designing your own kippahs, creating Hebrew name necklaces, challah baking, building tzedakah boxes, and more!) and be joined by special guest speakers from the Hostage & Missing Families Forum.
Everyone who registers will receive a very special Walk A Mile In My Kippah yarmulke designed by the 7th Grade students, so you can walk a mile in your kippah anywhere and at any time.
Together we will foster Jewish pride and allyship to combat antisemitism!
The money raised will go to supporting the hostages, Israeli victims of terrorism, and their families.

Names for Prayer for Healing
Submitting Names for Healing Prayer
When someone is ill, we traditionally say a Misheberach, a special prayer for healing during Shabbat morning services when Rabbi Alder will read the names of those who are ill. If you would like the name of someone mentioned during the Misheberach prayer, please let Rabbi Alder know by email. Ideally, we would use the person's Hebrew name and that of their mother; if this is not known, then we can use their English name. May God send healing to all those in need.
