The YMM Terminal is turning ten, and we are inviting the community to come celebrate with us on June 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the YMM Courtyard, Level 1. Team YMM, along with community partners, is hosting a FREE community event. The celebration will include music, games, activities, prizes, bouncy castle, loot bags (for the first 50 children) on Arrivals, Level 1, and barbecue lunch in the Courtyard.

YMM Digital Art Exhibit Event | |

The Fort McMurray Airport Authority launched the YMM Digital Art Exhibit featuring Lynel Baguio's "Unraveling the Mosaic: Puzzling the Pieces of Our Region" in the Observation Area on May 1.
Lynel, a third-year nursing student at Keyano College, spoke to the meaning behind the photos in his exhibit to the 50+ guests in attendance. Guests also enjoyed refreshments and live music by Dan Gillies. As Lynel’s career aspirations include working with seniors, the Fort McMurray Airport Authority had puzzles created, featuring photos of his exhibit, to donate to the Golden Years Society, Rotary House Seniors Lodge, and the Willow Square Continuing Care Centre.
A big thank you to Sandy Grandison, St. Aidan's Society, Michael Hurlburt, Fort McMurray Golden Years Society, and Nyasha Eshello, Wood Buffalo Housing, for attending our event and accepting the puzzles on behalf of the long-term care facilities.

The 2024 Alberta Aviation Conference | |

Denean Robinson, President & CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority was joined by fellow industry leaders on the Charting the Future of Alberta Airport Panel at the 2024 Alberta Aviation Conference in Calgary.
Joining Denean was Monette Pasher, Canadian Airports Council, Chris Miles, Calgary International Airport (YYC), Carmen Donnelly, Edmonton International Airport (YEG) and Steve Michoulas as the moderator. The annual conference brought aviation professionals, enthusiasts and pioneers together to network and discuss the future of aerospace.

YMM, in partnership with Girls Inc. and Elevate Aviation, invite youth aged 12-18 to learn about the many career opportunities in aviation and tour YMM. Guests will hear from leaders in the industry, including President & CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority Denean Robinson, Pilot Carolyn Spence and more! Door prizes, swag and refreshments provided. Best of all, this enriching experience is entirely FREE of charge! | |

In April, YMM proudly hosted two community events, including FuseSocial's Leadership Wood Buffalo Graduation and NorthWord Magazine's Issue 29 launch event. Copies of the edition can be found throughout the YMM terminal for passengers to enjoy during their travels.

Spotlight on Peter Jordan | |
|
Peter Jordan, the Base Manager at Heli Source Ltd., has dedicated 20 years to Fort McMurray, Alberta. Originally a cabinet maker, he discovered his passion for flying at 29 and has since accumulated 14,320 flight hours.
Peter has been involved in numerous wildfire efforts and appreciates the freedom and breathtaking landscapes that flying offers. As a dedicated pilot and manager, his logistical skills are crucial in coordinating large-scale projects.
With a team of five pilots, he ensures efficient navigation and resource allocation. Peter's expertise and commitment make him an invaluable asset to Heli Source Ltd., continually soaring to new heights in the field of aviation.

The 868 YMM Rotary Northstar Fort McMurray Air Cadets came for a campus tour to meet and greet with Team YMM on April 27. They made stops at Phoenix Heli-Flight and Fort McMurray International Airport, where they met with the Phoenix pilots, YMM staff and firefighters. The Cadets had the privilege of an insightful tour, getting a close look at the aircraft and equipment. Many thanks to all involved for their time and support. Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign | |
Team YMM shared smiles as they celebrated the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign. The annual campaign was launched on April 29 and concludes on May 5. Throughout the week, volunteers in the community helped create delightful cookies, with all proceeds donated to the Northern Lights Health Foundation. Hats off to our YMM Tim Hortons Team. Together, we made a difference! | |
