Helping Children & Adults Change Their Lives
Tourette is a chronic neurobehavioral movement disorder that begins in childhood. Those affected make motor movements and vocalizations they cannot control. Additionally, many have associated obsessive compulsive disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dysgraphia and other issues.
Today's estimates indicate that 1 out of every 160 children between the ages of 5-17 in the US has TS and that 1 out of every 100 children has TS or another Tic Disorder. Of note, boys are 3-4 times more likely to have TS than girls and 86% of those with Tourette also have a co-occurring condition such as ADHD, OCD or anxiety. In spite of its high incidence, Tourette continues to be greatly misunderstood. Although medication may help control the symptoms, as of yet there is no cure.
Tourette Texas, one of the largest Chapters of the Tourette Association of America, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We directly assist Texas area families and children in crisis, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

TARGETS FOR TOURETTE CLAY SHOOT
Friday, April 5th at Greater Houston Sports Club
As always, T4T was one of the best shootin’ matches anywhere in Texas. Teams competed in sporting clays, then relaxed with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a gourmet dinner catered by Monarch Hospitality. Fine wine from the personal cellar of Meredith and Fielding Cocke topped off the extraordinary dinner fare.
Chaired by Jyl and Keith Calcote and benefiting the Tourette Association of Texas, the event also included a high-end shopping opportunity for custom belts and buckles by Maida’s Belts and Buckles; wraps from Anna Irion; Kendra Scott Jewlery; Davidoff Cigars; Oliver Peoples Eyeware, and much more. Revelers then “boot-scooted” late into the night to live C&W music by the incomparable Tommy Alverson Band.
However, the HIGHLIGHT of the evening was a presentation by Felix L. on the reality, challenges, and even joy of a life lived with Tourette (HINT: Think Camp du Ballon Rouge.) WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW!

TENNIS, ANYONE?
Shiv K., a sophomore at St. John's School in Houston and a member of their varsity tennis team, has offered a unique opportunity for free tennis lessons for children with Tourette Syndrome. With all equipment provided, these individual sessions will be held at Firetruck Park in Southside Place (in the Houston area). Sessions will begin at the end of May and will last approximately 30 minutes each.
This initiative is more than just about learning tennis; it's an opportunity for participants to build on their basic skills and fundamentals in a supportive and understanding environment. Shiv's vision is to create a space where the joys of tennis are accessible to all, and every lesson is a step towards overcoming barriers and celebrating achievements together.
