Devotional

"Take God's Word For It" is a weekly devotional by Stacie Ruth Stoelting Hudzinski.

Ignore Cultural Lies about Identity:

Eternal Security and Incomparable Identity

Reside in Knowing Christ

“Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” -I Peter 2:10

Identity confusion remains rampant in our culture. Songs, ads, articles, and memes describe and tempt people with "new" ways to define and describe what it means to be human. But it seems people are more miserable than ever and suicide rates reflect that.

Fact: Only God's Word remains unchanging and ever-lovingly true. Yes, God's Word remains the final word. How He describes us should define us: Only our Creator deserves and reserves the rights to define you. Only in Christ can we experience true security. When we repent from sin and accept Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, we experience complete transformation as God's fully adopted children and (wait for it!) co-heirs with God's Son Himself! It can't get any better than that, my friends. Amen?

This literally Rock-solid truth never fades. Only our focus blurs if we start to look around instead of gazing upward at our Lord Jesus Christ.

God's love exceeds our highest comprehension! The cross puts that point across.

Accept God's acceptance of you as a new creation in Christ. Derive your identity and security from Christ Himself. Ignore cultural shifts. No substitute exists for prayer. Keep praying and resolutely looking up to Jesus, my friends.

Take God's Word to heart:

"[He has also appropriated and acknowledged us as His by] putting His seal upon us and giving us His [Holy] Spirit in our hearts as the security deposit and guarantee [of the fulfillment of His promise]" (2 Corinthians 1:22).

“Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy” (I Peter 2:10).

"Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Prayer Tip of the Week

When internalizing what your life means, ignore cultural shifts and focus on the Word. No substitute exists for prayer. Keep praying and resolutely looking up to Jesus, my friends.

Weekly Prayer
"Lord, we praise You still even as we face everyday pressures. We thank You for the gifts we received, but, Lord, we want You most! We repent of our sins such as excluding You from our daily lives. Please open our eyes and our hearts whenever we open Your Word. Grant us grace to give grace, please. Heal us so that we enjoy You most and bring glory to You. We pray for all members of Praying Pals, too, and ask for Your best for each prayer request sent. We hand over everything to You. Thank You, Jesus, for coming so that we can come close to You for eternity. We love You. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
