In early 2024, MMAM trained a new class of docents (tour guides). These gallery teachers will share the joy of self-discovery with hundreds of students as they lead school field trips through the galleries. This group dedicated more than 20 hours to intensive training to learn about the museum, art education, and facilitation techniques, all to make MMAM’s field trip program possible!

MMAM School Field Trip Program | MMAM has introduced a new guided field trip program! Offered during six designated weeks during the school year, field trips allow students to develop a sense of belonging in a museum setting and engage in different activities to think creatively and make personal connections to works of art.

Earth Day Event a Success
On Saturday, April 20 over 100+ MMAM Staff, volunteers, and community organizations gathered on the MMAM grounds to pick up riverside flotsam, roadside trash, and manage the museum’s six-acres of riverfront plants and shoreline habitat. Thanks to our community partner organizations including Fastenal, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Winona, Big River Magazine, the Winona Post, The Land Stewardship Project, Target, and the City of Winona, this event was a huge success and supported MMAM’s clean water and climate initiatives.
