Celebrate Adolescent Health Month's
Weekly Themes
| |
Each week's theme emphasizes the importance of building on young people’s strengths, encouraging meaningful youth engagement, and highlighting key adolescent health resources.
THEME:
Ensure and expand access to health care
| |
Spotlight: Indian Country ECHO
The Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board established Indian Country ECHO to create a welcoming learning environment where clinicians, staff, and others serving American Indian and Alaska Native people could receive guidance and mentorship from clinical experts.
The Project Red Talon Regional Partner Network is proud to be a part of the Indian Country ECHO collective. Today, it continues to expand American Indian and Alaska Native peoples’ access to high-quality specialized care, technical assistance, training, and resources on a variety of health topics.

THEME:
Support and translate health research to improve health literacy
| |
Spotlight: Native Health Resources
The www.NativeHealthResources.com website was created to increase access to culturally-relevant health education materials. It is a helpful place where folks can access age-appropriate posters, videos, and tip sheets - to improve school and community health and share information on topics that are often hard to talk about, including mental health, STI/HIV and dating violence.
| |
THEME:
Increase youth agency and youth engagement
| |
Spotlight: NPAIHB Tribal Youth Delegates
Healthy Native Youth would like to give a big “Thank you!” and a shout out to the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board’s Tribal Youth Delegates! The Tribal Youth Delegates are a diverse group of Native teens and young adults (ages 15-24) who represent the tribes in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. They advise the NPAIHB on programs, policies, and issues that affect and impact Native youth and young adults.
Visit the NPAIHB Tribal Youth Delegate website and join us in celebrating our youth leaders!
The application to join the NPAIHB Youth Delegate program is open through May 31st: Apply Online
| |
THEME:
Eliminate disparities and increase collaboration across systems
| |
Spotlight: NPAIHB Adolescent Health Tribal Action Plan
In keeping with the mission of the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board, the Adolescent Health Tribal Action Plan was first designed in 2014 to guide the development of programs and services to improve adolescent health within the 43 federally-recognized Tribes in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. As such, it can be used by program managers or public health professionals, as well as by tribal leaders and policy-makers, as they set the agenda for improving their community’s health. As a core value, the Board recognizes and supports tribal sovereignty over the design and delivery of public health programs and healthcare systems.
