2024 Genomic Medicine Symposium

Monday, May 6; HSEB Alumni Hall; 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

The Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM) and the Primary Children’s Center for Personalized Medicine will be holding a joint symposium for all in the genomics community (faculty, trainees, and staff) and includes both internal and external speakers, as well as a poster session. Several morning talks may be of particular interest to those in Pediatrics. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. To guarantee enough food, please register by Monday, April 29.

PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES AVAILABLE AT LEHI CAMPUS - REMINDER

Rainbow Kids Palliative Care has an outpatient clinic at Primary Children's Miller Campus in Lehi.


A palliative care consultation can provide all the following services: 

  1. Time for communication with patients, their families, and caregivers about their illness, hopes and worries, and wishes for care
  2. Expert management of pain and other symptoms
  3. Help navigating the health care system
  4. Guidance with difficult and complex treatment decisions
  5. Emotional support
  6. Advance care planning 


Palliative care can have a significant impact on quality of life even while curative and disease-directed treatments are still in process. We work closely with primary care providers and specialists to coordinate care.

ANNUAL COMPLIANCE TRAININGS DUE APRIL 30

Annual regulatory lessons, mandatory for all employees, are now available and must be completed by April 30, 2024. These lessons are crucial to ensure the University of Utah holds the safety of our patients and employees to the highest possible standards and are compliant with CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory services. They are also important for the university’s continuing accreditation. Work with your manager or supervisor to find time to complete these assignments during work hours before the April 30, 2024 deadline. Employees who do not complete the required assignments in a timely manner may be subject to formal disciplinary action. You can access your required courses here to log into Bridge. If you have any questions, please see the Annual Compliance Reference Guide and the FAQ page for troubleshooting. You may contact Emily Hansen if you have additional questions.
