CHESTER SPRINGS LIBRARY

There’s Snow Place Like Chester Springs Library

By: Susie Hawkins

If you’ve stopped by the library recently, you may have noticed our winter décor. We have snowflakes, snowmen, and evergreen trees on the tops of our shelves, but we’re not done yet! We want you to help us complete our winter wonderland. On January 16 (MLK Jr. Day and a DASD day off), we’re inviting all ages to the library to craft houses, stores, and buildings to create an eclectic winter village. This is a drop-in program from 1-3, and there will be hot cocoa with toppings for all participants! No registration required.

Click here to learn more about what to expect and what you can bring to contribute to the building supplies.

There are plenty of events for kids next month. At 10:30AM on January 16, kids six and younger are invited to enjoy a “Festival of Bells” with Music Play Patrol. Explore mallet and bell instruments like the glockenspiel, handbells, and a hand-pan. No registration required. Learn more here. Also, Mr. Dan is back with Makin’Music on Thursday, January 26 at 10:30AM.

For adults, there are several wonderful programs planned for January. Saturday, January 7 will be a virtual program at 10AM to walk you through the new catalog. Register here. Then, there’s an eight-week Shakespeare series starting January 7 – Henry V, Playboy to Warrior Monarch. Classes will meet Saturdays and be led by Charles Conwell, a retired professor of theater. Register and learn more here. Check out the online calendar here to explore all the programs and events the library has to offer this January!

Finally, I want to say a big thank you to everyone for welcoming me to the library this past year. I loved meeting you all and have really enjoyed creating fun and educational programs for this community. I’m looking forward to doing more in the New Year. Thank you to all who donated to our Annual Appeal and made the library programs possible. If you haven’t donated you still can as our Annual Appeal ends on December 31. Please consider donating with this link. All contributions stay here to improve Chester Springs Library and will allow me to create great programs in 2023!
