Worship Changes

Worship Location and Communion

Due to the high amount of dust in the Sanctuary, worship will be held in the Fellowship Hall for the time being. This begins on Wednesday, April 17th and Sunday, April 21st. It is just too dusty for the Pastors, Musician and attendees. Please enter through the Welcome Kids doors for Worship.

This temporary change will also impact Communion. Due to the constraints of the Fellowship Hall, there will be NO Communion until we move back into the Sanctuary. If you would like Communion, please reach out to the Pastors.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding during our Transforming!

Pastor's Message

Construction and Dust and Rain,Oh My!

Yesterday was a long, hard day at Grace Lutheran. After last Sunday’s worship in the sanctuary with the drywall dust all over, our staff made the decision to move our Wednesday and Sunday worship to the Fellowship Hall for a while. The dust in the air and all over the sanctuary is making it hard to breath, let alone sing and preach in there. For the safety of all of you and our staff, worshipping in the Fellowship Hall feels like the best option. But as you know our Fellowship Hall is currently our Nursery and our Toddler Room and so we were busy strategizing for how to do this. Nothing is as simple as I hope it will be. I am so thankful for the flexibility of my team and all of our volunteers who help out in SO MANY WAYS! Then of course came the rain, which was a lot, but made even worse with literal holes in our roof over our women’s bathroom and mechanical room. Our site manager, Eric worked hard to remedy the problem, and many offered to help as well. I am grateful. The good news is all of the areas affected by the rain are going away with our new construction and so while yes, our carpet got wet in the hallway, it will be replaced. It will be fine. For now, it has just been a little more challenging.

I am so thankful for your continued flexibility, your support, and for all the hard work that everyone is doing to get us through this project. You all are amazing. Thank you! I know worshipping in the Fellowship Hall is not ideal, and yet, it will be fine. We can do hard things, and this too shall pass.

Blessings,

Pastor Joanna Mitchell

Mental Health Weekend

This weekend is Mental Health Weekend at Grace. Pastor Hannah Gustafson Campbell will be preaching. We planned this worship months before the Unraveled series, but the Mental Health Team had weaving on the mind. Here is an Unraveled study to match the text we will be using in worship this weekend and an introduction to the congregational art project we will be starting during worship.

This is your invitation to join our congregational art project and join in the value and beauty of simply participating!

At any point in worship, you are invited to go to one of the loom tables (2 in front and 1 in back). During songs, prayers, scripture readings. It is our hope this is a prayerful way of embodying our worship physically in addition to mentally and emotionally.

Choose your fabric strip (in the narthex or at each loom table)

Think about color and texture. Is there a piece of fabric that reminds you of someone you wish to hold in prayer.

  • You can take multiple strips, if you wish
  • You can leave them separate or tie them together.
  • You can add knots in a single strip too representing different prayer requests.
  • Weave your strips.
  • No need to start right to left, left to right, up, down or in the center.
  • You can start weaving one way and decide to weave back out the same way.
  • Wherever and however, you weave will add to the texture, complexity and beauty of this piece.

Members from our mental health team are there to assist you.

OK@PLAY is inviting you to join us at Lyric Arts in Anoka on Thursday, April 25th (7:30 pm) to see “9 to 5: The Musical!” 9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL is a feel-good show that will have you cheering for the underdogs and tapping your toes all the way home.

Vacation Bible School Volunteers Are Needed

Our theme this year is SCUBA- diving into friendship with God! We are sure to have a wonderful week of fun! We need half-day and full-day volunteers. Volunteers act much like shepherds and are responsible for connecting with the kids in your group and leading them to and from their different classrooms.

  • Half day volunteers help 9-12 (VBS programming only).
  • Full day volunteers help 9-3 (VBS programming plus afternoon scuba, movie, juggler, magicians etc.).

Volunteers must also attend one of our two trainings offered. Sunday, June 2nd at 1:00pm or Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30pm. If you cannot attend one of these trainings, please let me know ASAP so we can find a time to connect!
