EXPANDING
educational opportunities
for students and engaging
our community!

A YEAR FULL OF AWE AND WONDER! This holiday season I feel incredibly honored and blessed to be leading the Foundation for Douglas County Schools. As the challenges of the last few years have changed us all, I have had so many reach out to make a greater impact on the students here in the Douglas County School District. I have shared with many of you, that the beginning of this school year felt as if everyone had pushed a fast forward button…to try to catch up on perceived lost time. Through those fast-moving frames, we here at the Foundation had the opportunity to see smiles on students faces as they received brand new backpacks full of supplies needed for their upcoming school year through our annual Lend A Hand School Supply Drive, watched some of our talented students share their incredible gifts with our partners at our Building the Dream event, and just recently got to experience the amazement and excitement of our teachers from Sedalia Elementary as they went on a $10,000 shopping spree donated to them by Office Depot!

This year, I have seen our community support our students, teachers and schools in new and innovative ways, creating many new opportunities for DCSD. We have much to celebrate this holiday season, but most importantly, I would like to thank you, our donors, supporters and partners, for your generosity, which has allowed us to have a greater impact in Douglas County Schools.

May you have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy new year!

Office Depot Provides $10,000 Shopping Spree to Sedalia Elementary Teachers!

Office Depot, leveraged its partnership with Round It Up America® to provide back-to-school shoppers and business clients with the opportunity to support Title I schools across the country. Thanks to the generosity shown by Office Depot and OfficeMax clients from July through September, nearly $2.2 million was collected to benefit nearly 70 Title I schools nationwide, including our own Sedalia Elementary.

On Tuesday, December 13th, teachers and administrators had the exciting opportunity to participate in a VIP shopping event to shop for $10,000 worth of critical supplies to support their students’ education! So cool!

WE ❤️ OUR TEACHERS!

Mid-Year Supply Drive for Teachers and Classrooms

The goal of the Foundation for Douglas County Schools' 2023 January school supply drive is to provide supplies to our DCSD teachers to support them in the second half of the school year. The Foundation is partnering with Office Depot and the Douglas County Libraries to collect donations from our local community in support of our teachers and their classrooms. The donation drive will run from January 2 through January 22, at all Douglas County Office Depots and DC Library locations. DCSD Teachers will be able to pick up free supplies for their classrooms at a “Grab & Go” event on Wednesday January 25 and Thursday January 26 at the DCSD Legacy Campus from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Any remaining supplies will be available for teachers to pick up at the Foundation for Douglas County Schools office at 620 Wilcox St., Castle Rock CO 80104.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to honor female athletic achievement and recognize the importance of sports participation for all girls and women. Douglas County School District Office of Athletics and Activities, along with The Foundation for Douglas County Schools, is excited to again work together to honor middle and high school girls who have been selected by their schools for their achievement and character at the annual Girls & Women in Sports Luncheon. Please join us in honoring our athletes by becoming a sponsor of this annual event on Friday, February 17, 2023.

FOR OUR TREASURERS

Happy Holidays! I know this is a busy time for everyone but a quick reminder to make sure you turn in your Gift Card Distribution Log to Kim Meigs by January 1st.

Gift Card Distribution Log: When purchasing gift cards for teachers/staff/volunteers please fill out the Gift Card Distribution Log throughout the year and send it back to the Foundation Chapter Bookkeeper by January 1st and May 31st. This will allow for documentation showing who gift cards were given to and when. This provides a safeguard so if any questions were to arise the Chapter will have a record of each gift card recipient.
