Description: From Idea to Completion: How nurses utilize KCNA Grants to make a difference. KCNA Board Member and former KCNA grant recipient, Antwinett O. Lee, EdD, MSN-CNS, RN, will guide us through idea creation, grant application, and implementation. We’ll also hear from recent grantees as they share their experiences and insights about the impact of their grants.
Q&A session will follow the presentation.

KCNA increases scholarship amount | |
Since 1993, KCNA has awarded $797,750 in scholarship funds to support 335 nursing students. In 2025, KCNA will award 15 scholarships at $4,500 a piece, an increase of $500 from years prior. These scholarships are available for students pursuing associate or baccalaureate degrees, grad-entry programs, RN-to BSN, and advanced degree programs.
Applications for 2025 are now open! If you or someone you know is a nursing student interested in applying, please visit kcnurses.org and click on the Scholarships and Info tab. The application deadline is March 3, 2025.

Each year, we celebrate Nurses Month with a special gathering to honor our profession. This event includes the presentation of Shining Star Awards, the introduction of our scholarship recipients and an auction to raise funds for nursing student scholarships.
We are thrilled to announce the KCNA Annual Gala date has been set for 2025!

We are accepting nominations for the 2025 Shining Star Nurse Award! Each year, KCNA proudly honors exceptional nurses during National Nurses Week with this prestigious award. The Shining Star Nurse Award recognizes nurses who demonstrate outstanding practice, make significant contributions to the profession, or have a meaningful impact within their community.
Honorees will be celebrated at the KCNA Annual Gala in May 2025. To submit a nominate, click here to complete an application.

We are now accepting nominations from interested KCNA members for the following positions:

President: Serves as the official spokesperson and representative of the association on policy matters, while also chairing the Board of Directors. Additionally, the President appoints committees, represents KCNA at WSNA activities and acts as the liaison between the Board and Executive Director. Board President serves a two-year term.

Nominating Committee: Members play a crucial role in selecting qualified candidates for elective offices within KCNA, ensuring broad representation of the membership. Committee members serve a one-year term.

Our December book club meeting was a great success, discussing The Black Angels, by Maria Smilios. Members brought diverse perspectives on the novel's theme and shared personal experiences, creating new connections among our group.

Volunteer Opportunity: Seattle/King County Clinic | |
Volunteer registration is now open for the 10th Anniversary of the Seattle/King County Clinic taking place April 24-27, 2025, at Seattle Center.
Seattle/King County Clinic unites healthcare organizations, civic agencies, non-profits, businesses, and volunteers from across the State of Washington to produce a giant free health clinic at Seattle Center. Over the past nine years, 30,000 patients have saved $26 million in out-of-pocket costs for dental, vision, and medical care, and have been connected to resources that can help with their continued care.
