Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center (HMPMC) is granting the USDA access to their property, behind the Hospital towards the Hudson River, to round up and gas the geese. HMPMC can deny the USDA access and use nonlethal solutions.

Animal Protection League of New Jersey has been trying to contact Lisa Iachetti, President & CEO of Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center, but she is unwilling to meet with us.

We would like to schedule a site visit to discuss nonlethal solutions, such as habitat modification, which will permanently deter the geese from their property.

Please call and email the following. Tell them to deny the USDA access and stop gassing the geese. Ask them to work with Animal Protection League of New Jersey on nonlethal geese solutions.

The gassing of geese occurs one day during the molt period - which is every year from mid-June to early July. At this time the geese lose their flight feathers, becoming flightless. The USDA is hired to round up the geese during the molt period whereupon they are shoved, alive, into a gas chamber and gassed to death. It takes 15 minutes before the geese suffocate and die. This is the highest level of animal cruelty.
