To Serve Those in Need

This is Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) commitment weekend. You’ve received information from the diocese and you'll find envelopes in the pews at Mass. We’re asked to support over 100 ministries and services for the people in 25 Central Texas counties. Let's open our hearts to embody the love of Christ and share God's gifts. Our pastor outlines ways in which the Austin Diocese provided expertise and wise counsel during our parish development journey. As you prayerfully consider your donation, please read From Fr. Chuck.

This weekend we return to traditions that we haven’t observed since pandemic restrictions began in the Spring of 2020. During the Offertory, we’ll pass the collection baskets and bring up our offering of bread and wine to be consecrated during the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We need you. Please consider participating in the Mass by volunteering to ~

  • Welcome worshipers as a minister of hospitality
  • Serve at the altar
  • Sing in one of the ensembles or choir
  • Read the Word as a Lector
  • Offer the Sacred Body and Blood as a Eucharistic Minister

Helping at one Mass a month, serving as a family, or accepting when asked to bring the gifts to the altar are acts of loving service for which your community is grateful. Learn more at Liturgy.

This week, the Vatican released Enlarge the Space of Your Tent, a document coming out of the Synod expressing the desire that we become a Church of radical inclusion. It identifies issues critical to the Catholic Church's engagement with the modern world. Find links to the document and an article in the National Catholic Reporter at Synod.

We look to the past to remember how in the Fall of 2000 our school children celebrated Church heroes. Enjoy the sweet faces accompanying our latest Adventure in the Archives.

And we look to our school children of the present as we happily to share how they’re leading by example by contributing both time and treasure to Beacon of Hope.

To see the progress made on the development, we offer new photos and this week’s Construction Updates.

Our Ministries of Charity and Justice have news to share and invitations as well including ~

  • A description of the St. Vincent de Paul Society's work in the community and an invitation to work alongside them at JUSTNews.
  • Two invitations to promote a greater respect for all human life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death through prayer on November 1 and 5 are offered at Gabriel Project.

Halloween, All Saints, and All Souls Day are the subject of the reflection shared in the news from Faith Formation.

We’ve got photos to share from our Milagros events last weekend as well as details about our pilgrimage to the Missions of San Antonio on Wednesday, November 9. If you’ve expressed your interest in the trip, look forward to an email with details early next week. If you’ve been thinking it might be fun – it will be! It’s time to let us know you’d like to join the trip – the interest form is at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

God so loved the world

that he gave his only Son,

so that everyone who believes in Him might have eternal life.
