Questions And Answers With You in 2022
Idaho Parents Unlimited
Engage + Educate + Bridge + Lead

For Question 50 we asked:

Many of our children experience overstimulation during the holiday break. What are your strategies for addressing behavior and preparing for back to school?

"Take down the tree the day of and put the house completely back together before beginning the new year. Holiday movies and music are put away until next year!"

"Try to stick to the normal routine as much as humanly possible. Wake up at the same time as a school day, go to bed at the same time as a school day."

"Spend as much time outside as possible. Sensory seekers can get heavy work in and sensory avoiders can get more quiet time and less visual stimulations."

"Organize gifts so they're not all out and available all of the time. "

"Begin to limit screen time that may have been excessive during the holidays."

"Reduce sugary foods and try to get back to typical eating routines."

"Create small photo books or video shows of the holiday activities with family, especially including out-of-town relatives that the kids can look at and enjoy the memories made."
