MESSAGE FROM RICKY

Dear Friends,

This past Sunday in worship we lit the Pink Advent Candle, which stands for joy, and reminds us of the joy that we celebrate at the coming of Jesus.

As I think about this past week at the church I see joy all over the place. I saw joy in the faces of our adults last Tuesday as they gathered for a Christmas luncheon provided by Nel Joyner, with everyone decked out in festive attire. I saw joy in at our last Wednesday night potluck, with tables full of lovingly prepared dishes and enough deviled eggs and pizzas to feed an army! I saw joy on Sunday night, as our youth group had their Christmas party, along with an epic lip sync song battle. The youth room was packed to the brim and full of joy!

And the most amazing thing is that Christmas week isn't even here yet! We have more joy in store. I do hope you take time to look over our Top 3 list below to see all the special events that are upcoming. So many different people in so many different ways offering their talents to help all of us celebrate the joy of Jesus Christ. Make sure you join us and invite someone who needs a bit more joy in their life!

Grace and Peace,

Ricky

CHRISTMAS SERVICE TIMES

On Christmas Eve, we will have Come and Go Communion from 3-4:30 pm in the Sanctuary. At 5:00 pm, we will have our candlelight Christmas Eve service.

On Sunday, December 25th, we will have one joint service at 11:00 am in the Worship Center. You're invited to dress festively and come celebrate the birth of Christ together while feasting on Christmas cookies!

On Sunday, January 1st, we will have one joint service at 9:00 am in the Sanctuary. I can think of no better way to begin the new year than by coming together to worship the King, while taking special time to covenant ourselves to God through Wesley's Covenant Renewal Service.

On December 25th and January 1st, kids and youth ministries' will not have Sunday school. Adult classes are welcome to meet, as the building will be open at 10-11 AM for the Sunday School hour. We encourage you to ask your individual class leaders for specific class details.

Sounds of the Season

This Sunday, our Sanctuary Choir will present their annual "Sounds of the Season" Christmas program during morning worship. We will be accompanied by brass, strings, and percussion, as well as organ and piano. Tony Walker will be our narrator and the featured soloists are Jalysa Jones, Layne Allen, and Pam Steadman. Then, be sure and come back at 5pm as our children re-enact the manger scene and sing some of the season's most beloved carols. It is our prayer for you that this music will bring you closer to the manger as we sing of His wondrous birth.

COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP BIBLE STUDY

Beginning on January 13, 2023, a community bible study, led by Mot Lyons and Daphne McLaurin is beginning at First Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. They meet weekly on Fridays from 9:15-11:15 am. In this nine week series, they will delve into the letters of hope given to us through Revelation 1-3. They'll be using We Over Me by Whitney Capps. Each book costs $20. Please reach out to Mot at 601-842-8645 with any questions.

MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK

LUNCHEON FOR ADULTS

On December 6th, we had a wonderful adult luncheon, filled with festivity and fellowship! Many thanks to all of the helping hands who made this time of fun possible. We won't have a luncheon in January, so be on the lookout for details for February's luncheon!
