A Message from our Interim President

Dear Carondelet Community,

Advent blessings to our Carondelet families! In the true spirit of Advent, it has been a week filled with joy and anticipation. On Thursday we celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Liturgy as we “awaken our hearts to allow Jesus to work through us.” We are also grateful for the incredible display of talent and dedication from our joint Carondelet and De La Salle choirs and bands at our Christmas Concert.

Advent is a time of waiting, reflecting, and preparing for the coming of Jesus by giving back. Please consider supporting this year’s Advent project, “Three Kings, Three Books.” We are collecting new or “like new” children’s books through December 12 in the Inner Court. We hope your family will partner with us in this worthy cause.

As we prepare for finals week, please remember that we have special Finals Schedules on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We are grateful to our Grandparents Club and Parents Club who will be in the Inner Court to lighten our spirits with hot cocoa and snacks between finals. Should your student have three finals on Tuesday, they have the option to request their period 7 exam be taken on Friday, Dec. 16. If they are interested in this option, please have students communicate with their period 7 teacher by this Monday, Dec. 12.

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I wish you and your family a blessed, reflective, and peaceful Christmas season and Happy New Year!

Reminders + Requests

PowerSchool Portal Closing

The PowerSchool Portal will close on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022 @ 8:00 AM. Students and parents will not have access to their PowerSchool accounts once the portal is closed. However, Schoology will remain open in order for students to have access to course materials and submit any assignments. The PowerSchool Portal will open on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 @ 8:00 AM. Please email Katie Almonte with any questions about your PowerSchool and/or Schoology account.

Free COVID Tests Available

As we depart on our Christmas break, students may come to the Deans/Attendance Office to pick up a box containing two COVID tests to take home over break. We are encouraging our community to test before returning to school on Monday, January 9th.

There has been a slight uptick in COVID cases since we’ve returned from the Thanksgiving break. We want to remind students and families of the safety measures proven to mitigate the spread of colds, flu, and COVID: washing hands, staying home when you’re unwell, and masking indoors. If your student has tested positive for COVID, please reach out to the Attendance Office as soon as possible.

Cannon Wellness Center

As you celebrate this holiday season, please consider making a gift of support to Carondelet’s wellness initiative. The Cannon Wellness Center has fast become a place of respite, reflection, and rejuvenation for our student community, and we’ve just scratched the surface of its potential. We’re over two-thirds to reaching our goal and your philanthropic support is essential to maintaining the momentum of this effort. Please join us in continuing to develop the Cannon into a place demonstrative of our students’ needs, and consequential to their overall success at Carondelet and beyond.

Give Today

Thank you for your consideration. Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and enjoyable Christmas, and wellness in the new year!

Academic & Learning Support

7th Period Option for Final Exams Week

Welcome to final exam preparation! As finals can cause expected anxiety, Academic & Learning Support has a solution for students with a 7th-period class. To alleviate having three finals on one day, you are invited to register and take your 7th-period final on Friday, December 16th instead of Tuesday, December 13th. This may not be necessary or appropriate for all classes, so please confirm with your teacher before Monday, December 12th. This final exam option will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and end at 10:30 AM, unless you are already approved for extended time.

If interested and approved by your teacher, please use this form to register. This will help us prepare for that day.

FORM FOR 7TH PERIOD OPTION

Please reach out to Merrilee Silveira if you have any questions. Good luck!
