Hello, organizing clients and friends!

Home organizing is fundamentally about creating protections around your time, energy, and well-being.

In order to have the bandwidth to say “yes!” to what is most important to you, it is necessary to say “no, thank you kindly” to what is extraneous, and then to let it go.

In organizing sessions, my clients and I work together to structure their environments to support their ability to focus on what (and who) is most important to them.

Below are examples from recent clients' art studio, kitchen, and home office.

Art studio 'before & after'

This client hadn’t used her art studio in a few years because she couldn’t move freely within it, couldn’t easily locate her materials and tools, and didn’t have sufficient open work space.

In one 4-hour session, we decluttered and reorganized the studio so that all of her materials and tools are pared down to what she will realistically use in upcoming projects, then stored them by category in labeled containers for easy access. This in turn opened up plenty of work space.

The result: an environment structured to support and nurture her creativity.

Kitchen/pantry 'before & after'

These clients, a professional chef and his partner, frequently host family get-togethers, parties, and houseguests. Their pantry and kitchen cupboards and drawers were overly full and not laid out in an intuitive manner for easy use.

In three 4-hour sessions, we decluttered and reorganized so that the kitchen layout and work flow are easy and efficient, including considering safe body mechanics. In the pantry, groups of items are stored together for quick inventorying and easy access.

Now there is plenty of space to store items that previously lived on the countertops, so the kitchen island feels inviting to guests to sit at while the client cooks.

The result: an environment structured to support the clients' focus on community-building and connections through sharing delicious food.

Home office 'before & after'

This client wanted to reclaim her home office from being a catch-all for storage. Because there were so many items and so much paper, it was hard for her to find what she needed and to decide what to focus her energies on.

In one 4-hour session, we decluttered and organized the office so that her everyday tools are at hand in the desk drawers, meaning that her everyday task files are the only items that live on her desk. Her pared-down resource files now are organized and labeled in a file drawer for easy access.

The result: an environment structured to support her feeling calm, efficient, and focused on the tasks that are most important to her.
