Hello everyone,

This is Dr. Jamie - the owner of Oasis Healing Arts. Many of you know me as your own acupuncturist or Functional Medicine doctor. Many others of you may have never met me but come to Oasis for acupuncture with Dr. Jones or Dr. Ellen, or massage therapy with Amanda, Liz, or Yvette. I wish to thank you all for choosing and trusting Oasis Healing Arts all these years.

As I reflect on the past 19 years and the tremendous growth of Oasis Healing Arts, I am beyond grateful. We have become a leading establishment for health and wellness in our community, and it’s just awesome to have developed such wonderful relationships with you all.

This growth has not come without its share of challenges and complexities, however, and I have spent the better part of the year considering how to simplify things, for the good of the practice as well as for my personal well-being. That being said, I have decided to return to a simpler time of running a solo non-insurance practice with just my massage therapists. This means that:

1) AS OF 1/9/2023 OASIS WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING HEALTH INSURANCE.

2) AS OF 1/9/2023 DR. JONES AND DR. ELLEN WILL NO LONGER BE PROVIDING THEIR SERVICES AT OASIS.

Please know that Dr. Jones’ and Dr. Ellen’s departure from Oasis is a peaceable and harmonious transition. We are in agreement about these changes and believe that this is the best direction for us all.

In anticipation of your concerns, I have listed several questions and answers below.

I already have an appointment scheduled w/ Dr. Jones / Dr. Ellen after 1/9/23. What do I do?

You have the option to reschedule with Dr. Jamie at the self-pay rate of $85 if you'd like to continue receiving acupuncture care at Oasis. Otherwise all appointments scheduled with Dr. Jones and Dr. Ellen after 1/9/23 will be canceled. You will be contacted by our front desk staff to initiate this.

Can patients follow Dr. Jones and Dr. Ellen?

Yes, of course. Dr. Jones will be opening up his own practice in West Covina. Dr. Ellen is currently practicing at other locations. They will contact you if/when they are ready to open up their doors.

Can I still get acupuncture at Oasis?

Yes, absolutely. You can see me, Dr. Jamie, at the self-pay rate of $85 per acupuncture treatment (fertility treatments are $95). My acupuncture treatments always include a 10-15 minute massage session from me personally. I have expanded my schedule to Mondays-Thursdays to accommodate you.

I prefer to use my insurance. What should I do?

If you prefer to still use your insurance, we'll not longer be able to accommodate you. Please check your plan for other providers in your network.

I see Dr. Jamie for acupuncture and use my insurance. How does this change affect me?

If you see me for acupuncture and use insurance, I will not be able to accept your insurance after 1/9/23. You may continue to see me at the self-pay rate of $85.

Will the massage therapists still be offering massage services at Oasis?

Yes! Our beloved massage therapists (Amanda, Liz, Yvette) are still available, and perhaps new therapists will join our team in the new year.

Why aren't you taking insurance anymore?

Health insurance companies are notoriously difficult to deal with. They often deny, delay, and decrease payments to providers for their work, and it requires vast amounts of time and staffing to process claims and collect payments for services rendered. It is increasingly more common for acupuncture providers to remove themselves from insurance networks because of this reason.

We understand that you may still have questions and we are happy to answer them. I ask that you please be patient and kind to our front desk staff as we anticipate a high volume of calls over the next few weeks. You can call or text us at 562-789-1588.

In closing, I understand that this may cause some unexpected inconveniences for you. Please know that I thoroughly considered this decision and it did not come easily. But ultimately, I decided to begin the new year free from all insurance companies, and this is the only way to accomplish that goal. Whether or not you continue with Oasis Healing Arts (and I truly hope you do remain), I wish you nothing but the best on your journey towards better health.
