UAB Mobile Sim Introduces ED Decon Sim at Russell Medical Center

A pilot simulation covering emergency department contamination is helping Russell Medical Center prepare for a low-occurrence, high-risk situation. 


Russell is based in Alexander City, Ala., where a diverse industrial base draws significant commuter and freight traffic, increasing the likelihood that the medical center’s health-care team could be treating patients affected by chemical exposure. 


As such, Eric Miller, R.N., emergency department nurse manager, and Allyson Garrett, R.N., employee health educator, reached out to UAB Mobile Simulation and requested a simulation dealing with such a scenario.

Enhancing Maternal Care at Ascension St. Vincent's Blount, St. Clair


In a collaborative effort on June 14, June 21 and June 27, the UAB Mobile Simulation team partnered with Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Clair and Ascension St. Vincent’s Blount to conduct a specialized simulation addressing critical obstetric emergencies. The focus was on managing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and severe hypertensive emergencies in pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia.

Mastering Cardiac Arrest Response at Lakeland Community Hospital


On March 12, the UAB Mobile Simulation team collaborated with Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville, Ala., to conduct an immersive simulation focused on managing cardiac arrest.

This simulation employed Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice (RCPD), a method that allows learners to pause and rewind scenarios to achieve perfect care through repetitive practice.

UAB Mobile Simulation is thrilled to announce the availability of Meta Quest 2 and 3 devices for use with our partners. These devices bring virtual reality (VR) simulations directly to you, allowing for practical training in a variety of medical scenarios.


VR technology creates computer-generated environments that replicate real-life medical situations.

We are excited to highlight that most of our simulations offer Alabama Board of Nursing and American Nurses Credentialing Center Continuing Education (CE) credit. These sessions are designed to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge and contribute to professional development. 


How to Receive CE Credit 

To ensure you receive your CE credit, please remember to scan your CE card at the end of each simulation session. This step is mandatory for recording your participation and awarding the appropriate credits. 


Lost Your CE Card? 

If you have misplaced your CE card, you can easily request a new one by visiting the Alabama Board of Nursing’s website.
