White House Names Hedie "Roshan" Ghaffarian as New Head Florist

From her humble beginnings starting her business in her parents' garage to being appointed as the Obama Administration's head florist, Roshan has 25 years of entrepreneurial and floral expertise. Her extensive portfolio and work's appearances in Ceremony Magazine, Today's Bride Magazine, and The Knot have demonstrated her resolve and perseverance as an immigrant pursuing her dreams in the United States. First Lady Michelle Obama asserts, "Roshan's life story is a powerful reminder that the American Dream endures." Iranian American Women Foundation congratulates Roshan on her continuing

Iranian American Women Foundation would like to congratulate Davar Ardalan in her new role as the Director of Storytelling and Engagement at SecondMuse, a global innovation agency. In her position, she will build storytelling campaigns around the world giving voice to social innovation. Davar is a veteran journalist and former social media strategist at NPR, who led dozens of real-time engagement campaigns to great impact. As a result of her dedication to her field, she has been recognized with two National Association of Black Journalists Awards, a Gracie Award from the American Women in Radio and Television and a shout-out in the popular comic strip Zippy. She began her radio career as a reporter in 1991 at KUNM in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is the author of two books My Name is Iran and The Persian Square. In May 2014, she was the recipient of an Ellis Island Medal of Honor, for individual achievement and for promoting cultural unity. Farah B. Majidzadeh was recently interviewed by Columbus CEO for their September 2015 issue. This article highlighted the growth of women-owned businesses with enormous success in Columbus, Ohio. A member of our Board of Trustees, Farah is a leading businesswoman in today's male-dominated engineering industry and an active proponent of women's rights. She started her engineering consulting company, Resource International Inc. (Rii), over 40 years ago as a single-person operation run out of her basement. It is now a multi-million dollar, broad-based, and multi-disciplined firm with over 200 engineers and professionals as well as an impressive roster of large-scale projects.
She has been nominated and inducted into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame, twice-recognized as a Small Business Person of the Year Finalist, a Master Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Road Federation, and a member of numerous councils as well as being awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2002.
