President's Message:

By: 2022 ACC St. Louis Chapter President

Kate Krebel, Vice President, Corporate Counsel, Leonardo DRS, Inc.

I’m guessing I’m like most people right now, kicking off 2023 initiatives, all the while asking, “Where did 2022 go?” As ACC President, I’m proud to say we had an extremely successful year. As an association, we were able to meaningfully engage with a dynamic mix of in-person and virtual events and thereby create real value for our in-house members.

The reason behind our advancement is no mystery; it’s the commitment of ACC members, volunteer leaders, and sponsors without whose support nothing would be possible. I believe these times have confirmed the value of sticking together as a profession for strength, encouragement and inspiration.

2022 ACC STL Membership Survey Results Help Board Plan for 2023

In September of 2022, members were asked to take the Association of Corporate Counsel – St. Louis membership survey to help the Chapter improve the membership experience. The Board is thankful for the 73 members who participated, as they provided valuable feedback that will help the 2023 Board to plan targeted programming, social events and CLE.

We have highlighted four areas of feedback from the survey below, and provided detailed results AT THIS LINK.

1.      Types of programs and events

Members ranked in order of preferences the types of programs and events they preferred to attend with the top three choices being:

·        CLE programs

·        Social Events

·        Professional Development

ACC St. Louis FUR BABIES!

  • Owner:

Jenny Herner, Associate General Counsel, Anheuser-Busch

  • What is your pet's name?

Lily (a.k.a. - The Wild Thing...a name she's earned)

  • How did you get your pet?

I found her at a shelter when she was five months old. She had been abused, and I was her fifth home.

  • What is the funniest/most memorable thing that your pet has done

She staged a coupe when I was on crutches, slipped out of her leash and ran down the middle of a busy road. A neighbor I'd never met stopped traffic and chased her for a quarter mile to bring her back to me.

  • What is the best thing about your pet?

She always makes me laugh and reminds me of the joy of living in the moment.

ACC St. Louis Nominating Committee Report

December 2022

The 2022 Nominating Committee (Sven Fickeler, Kate Krebel, Jenny Herner, Toni Douaihy, and Brian Parsons) is pleased to announce that it has completed the evaluation process and is prepared to submit for approval its proposed 2023 Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

The Nominating Committee would like to thank Erika Schenk for her tremendous contributions to ACC St. Louis over the years as she steps away from the Board for 12 months according to the chapter bylaws. We hope that Erika will return to the Board or stay otherwise actively involved in managing that chapter’s affairs.

We also want to welcome Bob Craddick as a new member of the Board for 2023. Bob has been a long-time member of the Golf Spa Committee and has recently agreed to step up and take over the committee’s leadership position so that Jay Repaso can move to the Executive Committee and enhance his successful leadership role.

The ACC STL Receives 2022 Gold Chapter of Distinction

for Fifth Consecutive Year

For the fifth consecutive year, the ACC STL received the 2022 Gold Chapter of Distinction by the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), which is an award bestowed on the best chapters in the country. The award recognizes an individual Chapter’s accomplishments in areas including programming; membership recruitment; diversity, inclusion and equity; and governance and operations.

“This is an incredible honor for the St. Louis chapter, and it is a reflection of the dedication, support, and commitment of our members. The past few years have brought unique opportunities to engage with our members. Our board frequently asks members what they want from their chapter, and we implement their advice into innovative programming, CLEs, networking opportunities, and social gatherings,” said Katherine Krebel, 2022 ACC STL Chapter President, and Vice President, Corporate Counsel, Leonardo DRS, Inc.
